Review: Murder on Wheels (Tourist Trap Mystery #6) by Lynn Cahoon
Murder on Wheels - Lynn Cahoon

Better than the last one, but there is something missing at the end of this mystery - namely a good motive for why the murderer committed the crime. There was too much focus on the love lives of the gang; the love triangle between Harrold, Aunt Jackie, and Josh, the break up of Toby and Elisa, and Sasha's growing crush on Toby. This felt more soap opera-ish than a mystery. And Amy was an utter cow to Jill for a ridiculous reason. I didn't like the fact that Greg dismissed Jill's theory or gut instinct, and low and behold, she was right and solved the murder. Greg might be Mr. Perfect, but he can be a bit of a dim-bulb compared to Jill and Toby; not quite Keystone Kops, but geesh if you spend all that time working a case that is stalled, why not take Jill's idea and investigate a path that is a bit out there. 3 stars.

Review: Tea Cups and Carnage (Tourist Trap Mystery #7) by Lynn Cahoon
Tea Cups and Carnage - Lynn Cahoon

The magic is back in this installment. The last couple of books have lacked something on the mystery end of the stories, but this kept the plot line on the mystery and the relationships took a back seat. Although the victim and murderer was once again out-of-towners, there were really good ties to the community via the clues to solving the murder. I'm a little tired of mini story lines about the love lives of Toby and Sasha, but I still enjoy the relationship between Greg and Jill. And I really like the tie in between the Tourist Trap Mystery series and the author's new cozy mystery series. I admit to not caring anymore about Jill's nosiness or her gossipy ways of solving the murders. 4.5 stars.

Review: Killer Run (Tourist Trap Mystery #5) by Lynn Cahoon
Killer Run (A Tourist Trap Mystery Book 5) - Lynn Cahoon

Good installment in the series but too light on the mystery front. Another case of victim and murderer from out of town, so there is no sense of tension within the community. Pretty quick read. I like the way the author set up the next book's plot line at the end of this book without muddying the plot line of this book. I just need more mystery and less cozy; the victim and murderer was plainly made within a couple of chapters - even before the dead body was found. 3 stars.

Review: At the Duke's Wedding (An Anthology) by Various Authors
At the Duke's Wedding (A romance anthology) - Katharine Ashe,Miranda Neville,Maya Rodale,Caroline Linden

The book features four short stories that occur during a two week house party/wedding celebration in Dorset. The stories overlap each other time wise, so you see MCs from one story in a scene in a different story.

I just averaged the individual stories ratings to get an overall rating of 3 stars (rounded up from 2.875 average). COYER eligible.

1. That Rogue Jack by Maya Rodale - 3.5 stars

Miss Henrietta Black and Lord Wilougby (Jack) are childhood friends that team up to find a missing wedding ring (family heirloom) in the week leading up to the wedding. The pages flew by, but I could have done without the sex scene - it smacked of insta-lust. I loved Lady Sophronia (or some such spelling) and her blunt talk and wicked sense of humor.

2. P.S. I Love You by Miranda Neville - 2.0 stars

A bit Romeo and Juliet with a side of Cyrano de Bergerac. The only plotline centers around a love triangle (Roseanne/Frank/Christian). Very paint-by-numbers and forgettable. A little too modern in tone considering the time period.

3. When I Meet My Duchess by Caroline Linden - 4.5 stars

What a great story! Gareth and Cleo and Helen and James made an enjoyable set of partners. It also fit in nicely with the other two stories, as certain scenes from the prior stories was retold through this stories MCs. Funny and emotional without being angsty. I want more from this author in my future reading.

4. How Angela Got Her Rogue Back by Katherine Ashe 1.5 stars

This was a time travel centered plot line. I liked the heroine when she was in 1813 England but not when she was in 2013 US. The first chapter was so off putting that I almost DNF. The story also had a lot of modern heavy kissing/sex scenes that was so not remotely time period appropriate. It felt like two modern characters play acting Regency-era and flaunting their breaking of all of society's standards. It was a hot mess, but I am glad they did get their HEA.
