Song of the Current
Song of the Current - Sarah Tolcser Song of the Current - Sarah Tolcser Very well done fantasy debut. Smart commentary on identity, direction and maturity, with a fresh yet classic seeming fantasy world and premise, deep and diverse worldbuilding, surprising twists and lyrical refrains. Could have done without the sex talks as that kinda ages it up past true teen lit, but it's certainly on trend for the market. Other than that, the romance was appealing without taking over, and had good progression. Overall a good read and the sequel will definitely make my tbr.

LISTEN, LIBERAL OR WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE PARTY OF THE PEOPLE by Thomas Frank
Listen, Liberal: Or, What Ever Happened to the Party of the People? - Thomas Frank

Starting with the Carter administration this is a look at how the Democratic party pulled away from its working class base and turned toward the people with money.  It gives a history of the change and the affect it had on the middle class and politics up through today.  I got mad as I read it and had to put it down several times.  I understood what was said.  Mr. Frank kept it simple and, at times, humor poked through.  I wish I would have been more politically aware when I was younger and understood what was happening and how it would impact me and my world.  Worth the read!

REQUIEM FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM by Noam Chomsky
Requiem for the American Dream: The 10 P... Requiem for the American Dream: The 10 Principles of Concentration of Wealth & Power - Noam Chomsky,Peter Hutchison,Kelly Nyks,Jared P. Scott
Very timely. Very interesting. It's the companion book to the documentary by the same name. I liked that he went back 50 years to put what is happening today in our government and society in prospective and giving us the history of what has led up to today. He gives examples as well as excerpts of his source materials. This is written so it can be understood by everyone. I learned a lot. There is a lot to think about in these pages.

One Tribe at a Time: The Paper that Changed the War in Afghanistan
One Tribe at a Time: The Paper that Chan... One Tribe at a Time: The Paper that Changed the War in Afghanistan - Jim Gant,Shawn Coyne,Steven Pressfield

If this book was utilized as it is meant it will be the end to terrorism in Afghanistan. General Petraeus knew it and started to use it. bin Laden knew it and marked the author for assassination. Now this step-by-step guide should be heeded again and fully implemented.
