104 THANKSGIVING KNOCK KNOCK JOKES by Ryan O. Williams
104 Funny Thanksgiving Knock Knock Jokes 4 kids (Joke Book for Kids) (Series 2 ) - Ryan Williams

Silly knock knock jokes that the kids will get a kick out of.  There are duplicates and proofreading could have been better.  Included are bonus knock knock jokes from his other three knock knock jokes.  My favorites were 58 and 75.  I chuckled at those ones.

Review: Rape Jokes
Rape Jokes - Louise McGregor

This was a LibraryThing giveaway.

Thumbs up because the publisher is based in my hometown.

Cons:

1) The title, which I get, but I got a lot of looks while reading this in public.

2) The entirety of the book is in first person which does make sense for the story being told, but I loathe first person perspective.

3) Some of the situations were so convoluted they were comical.

Pros:

1) The story was told from the victim's point of view.

2) She had a good support system.

3) She didn't instantly know what to do and how to feel.

4) She didn't have instant closure.

We watched as our protagonist, Edie, figured out what actually happed to her and saw how she navigated everday life as a survivor of rape.

Her life fell apart a little too spectacularly for my tastes, but we did watch her work to put it all back together again, which didn't happen instantly.  She had to learn how to fuction as a friend, a worker, a love interest and just Edie again.

It wasn't a great read, but it was very good. I would definitely check out more from the author a d publisher in future.

The Ballad of Kite Man
Batman Vol. 4: The War of Jokes and Riddles (Rebirth) - David Finch,Tom King

Tom King writes superhero stories about psychological trauma, not just as a plot element but as a raison d'etra. In books like Vision and Mister Miracle the psychological trauma is the engine of the plot. In his new series Heroes in Crisis an attempt to recover from trauma leads to far greater trauma. Batman: the War of Jokes and Riddles reveals a story from Batman's second year as a hero. The Joker and the Riddler go to war, not for control of Gotham City, but over who gets to kill Batman. Every name villain in Gotham gets roped into the fight on one side or the other, hundreds of civilians are killed in the crossfire, and Batman is forced to compromise his core values to try an end the war. Despite the death toll, in places it reads like an homage to the old Batman TV series from 1966, with Batman trading punches with bad guys with "POW" sound effects. In the end Batman is so traumatized he feels like his whole incorruptible persona is a sham.

Oh, and it is the origin story of Kite Man.

Jokes: Clean Jokes For Everyone by Joy I. Johnson
Jokes: Family Jokes, Husband-Wife Jokes, Jokes for Kids, Boss-Employer Jokes, Couple Jokes, Clean Jokes for Everyone - Joy I Johnson

Cute.
Though the book says these jokes are for everyone, there were a couple I wouldn't tell small children. They were pretty clean for the most part, and I even laughed out loud a few times.
There were a couple jokes I had heard before, so I'm not sure how original they are but maybe more of a compilation of jokes heard, Still it as nice to tickle my funny bone for a few minutes.
