Murder in the Locked Library (Book Retreat Mystery, #4)
Murder in the Locked Library - Ellery Adams

Sometimes I run across books that, in spite of obvious points of diversion from my personal taste, I can't help reading anyway.  This series is a perfect example.

The premise is both wonderful and cheesy as hell.  Like 70's cheesy, but still really wonderful.  The series centers around Storyton village and resort; a luxury resort centered around the love of reading.  Wonderful.  Jane Stewart is the manager and heir of the resort, as well as the Guardian of a super-secret repository of all. the. books.  Or at least all the books, scrolls. manuscripts, clay tablets, that are priceless, rare. dangerous.  This part is 50/50 wonderful/cheesy.  The super-secret repository comes complete with a super-secret security force that has access to all the toys, and they guard against other, evil, super-secret organisations that want access to the library.  Super-cheesy.

Still, I can't resist.  The author's love of books is obvious and she casually title-drops interesting sounding books throughout the narrative.  This book focused on books about books too, which is my personal weakness, so several titles have been added to my lists.

The mystery around this one was ... so-so.  A very old skeleton was dug up during excavations on site and the only known copy of a controversial book is found with it.  Then new murders start occurring.  So far, so good.  Unfortunately, the author made the murderer too obvious by overdoing the hiding in plain site chestnut.  And then giving him a motive that is firmly in the cheesy camp.

I'm never in a rush to buy these, but when I'm in the mood for a between books palette cleanser, these work and I get to imagine how amazing an entire resort centered around books would be.

Great Read
Roommating (Preston's Mill Book 1) - Noelle Adams,Samantha Chase

Roommating by Noelle Adams and Samantha Chase is an entertaining read.  This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time.  Team Adams/Chase has delivered a well-written book.  The characters are phenomenal and my favorite part of the book.  Heather moves back to Preston's Mill after college, expecting to work with her father.  Chris returns to Preston's Mill after being gone for 3 years and becomes an unwanted partner with Heather.  Chris and Heather's story is loaded with drama, humor, spice and a tiny bit of angst.  I enjoyed reading Roommating and look forward to reading more from Noelle Adams and/or Samantha Chase.  Roommating is book 1 of the Preston's Mill Series but can be read as a standalone.  This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

The Boss Box Set by Claire Adams
The Boss Box Set - Claire Adams

It may not always be clear who is running the show, but you're guaranteed to have a good time trying to figure it out. How can a reader go wrong with a box set full of tempting, tasty bad boys and their equally saucy counterparts. Prepare for the burn.

Midnight - Elisa Adams

Amara is a B-movie actress who's in a popular paranormal movie series. But when her youth passes and her popularity wanes, it seems like everything is coming down around her.

Amara's co-star and fiance turns out to be a lying, cheating scoundrel and Amara quickly finds herself out of a job when her producers tell her they want to turn her campy vampire movie series into a triple-x feature instead.

Just as Amara tries to start again from zero, a crazed fan abducts her, claiming he's a vampire and he's tired of her incorrect portrayal of vampires. Meaning to set her straight, vampire Marcos, who's been alive for hundreds of years, quickly finds his plan unraveling before his eyes.

Marcos can't seem to fight his attraction to Amara and it seems like Amara feels the same for him. Can they both make it work for eternity or will things quickly fizzle out?

Midnight features:

oral sex

paranormal romance
