My Life Next Door
My Life Next Door - Huntley Fitzpatrick This book started being the normal YA romance when the main character meets the boy next door (and all his family which I sure appreciated) and then it started getting more serious (drug addiction, the behind the scenes of politics and a lot more other things). I liked it, really did, even if the ending was left a little too open for my liking (I wanted to know what was Jase's family decision regarding the father's accident).
Anyways, a good read for when you want some light read but not too light. What I needed right now.

Review ~ Awesome!
Ghost Walk (A Lacey Fitzpatrick and Sam Firecloud Mystery Book 1) - Melissa Bowersock

Book source ~ Kindle Unlimited

Lacey Fitzpatrick works as a security guard for a self-storage place because her ex-boyfriend was a dirty Vice cop and ended up in prison. With all of the reporters hounding her at every crime scene she decided the best thing to do was to resign from the LAPD Homicide Unit. But man does she miss it. Then, 6 months after leaving, the newspaper reports that a girl’s body is discovered and it may be connected to a serial killer cold case she was obsessed with. So, she goes to the crime scene to see what’s up and finds out that Sam Firecloud was called into the home by the owner because of unusual paranormal activity. Sam is a medium and he’s the real deal. In order to catch the Fairfax Stalker Lacey needs to convince Sam to work with her on it.

I had this book on my list for a while and finally decided to give it a go after going on a blogging break. This is an easy book to read. It flows smoothly and the pages turn themselves. Not literally. But I was done before I realized it. Lacey is a flawed character who tries to fix herself. She doesn’t usually wallow in her mistakes. Sam is a half-Navajo medium who keeps pretty much to himself. He doesn’t flash his gift around. He just wants to release spirits that are trapped and live his life. He’s not real excited about helping Lacey, but they end up making a terrific team. There’s not much gore to this. Bad things happen to girls in this book (revealed by the spirits), but it’s not front and center. I really like Sam and Lacey. The end up meshing really well together and I enjoy the writing and Lacey’s research so much I grabbed the next book in the series. And the next. And the next. Well, I binged, so that should tell you how much I enjoy these books. I highly recommend this cozy paranormal mystery.

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
My Life Next Door - Huntley Fitzpatrick

1 star for amazing Garrett family.
1 star for Tim, who sounded so real and made me smile several times.
0.5 star for the buying condoms scene. This was really funny and actually the only scene I liked Sam. She had no backbone, no personality and she was stupid (sitting in that car, having a best friend like that). Even her little rebellion at the end of the book didn't change my mind. She was annoying. I really don't know what Jase saw in her. And the ending, what the hell, it isn't a fairy tale. Give me a realistic ending, not that sugar coated nonsense.

Lights All Night Long by Lydia Fitzpatrick
Lights All Night Long - Lydia Fitzpatrick

'Lights All Night Long' offers an interesting outsider perspective. Ilya, a Russian exchange student, arrives in Louisiana anxious about his brother's recent arrest for murder. He's unwilling to confide in his cheerful host family, and must dwell on his doubts alone, until he makes an unexpected ally in the family's teenage daughter.

Alternating between Ilya's childhood in Russia and his experiences in the United States, Ilya struggles to reconcile the memory of his brother with the horrible murders that haunted his home. Across a continent and an ocean he struggles to find evidence to redeem his brother, and himself, too.

Fitzpatrick expertly holds onto the tension of the story, seamlessly tying together the different timelines and never loosens her emotional grip on the reader.

Paranormal Series Based ~ Ghost Rescuers Lacey & Sam
Soul Walk - Melissa Bowersock

Helping Trapped Souls never gets old for this paranormal team.

Another great story based on the likable paranormal team, Sam Firecloud and Lacey Fitzpatrick. The characters are following a long arc and in this book have come together, determined to make things work out for them personally as well as professionally.

I enjoyed this creative duo and that they are open to new things, willing to sacrifice in order to help others. The construction worker medium and the ex-cop researcher both work toward the same goal---to help trapped souls. No matter how things evolve, they keep their ground and listen to their hearts.

These characters are very identifiable. Even on their bad day, you can't help but admire them. The story is a quick read, great for those moments in the day when you want to chillax. Melissa Bowersock writes well, the pace flows smoothly and the scenes put the reader right there on a comfy sofa or in the middle of the action.

This is definitely a great series for those readers who like paranormal ghost stories without gore, quick easy, enjoyable storytelling.
