Follow The Leader
Follow The Leader (A DS Allie Shenton Novel) - Mel Sherratt

A string of seemingly random murders shocks a little English town. Fridge Letters connect the victims. They also went to the same school, but that was over 25 years ago. Sure, that can not be the solution?

Follow the Leader is the second DS Allie Shenton book, but was my introduction to the series. I felt I could easily join in on this point, and had no problem following the different police officers around. The killer is known from the start but this doesn't mean there is no interesting chase. The pace was rather quick right from the start with a high body count. It was an easy and entertaining read but I missed something that made it stand out among all small-English-town-detectives. I mean, looking at all the books, it is terribly unsafe to go anywhere near small English towns since the murder rates are astonishing.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Follow the Leader by Mel Sheratt
Follow The Leader (A DS Allie Shenton Novel) - Mel Sherratt

I received a free kindle copy of Follow the Leader (DS Allie Shenton #2) by Mel Sherratt, published by Amazon Publishing from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

I gave this suspense-thriller five stars because it kept my attention.

The killer is almost pitiable. And would have been had he not been so brutal & prolific. Here's one sentence that sums up his beliefs. "All that talk & all those letters about how he wanted forgiveness--he knew it was all lies."

I found several story lines woven throughout this book. Some of them were about love, in many forms, spousal, siblings, for money & of course lack of love as well.

DS Allie Shenton's relationship with her permanently damaged sister Karen is foremost. The barbaric attack that left her that way interferes with the multiple murder investigation.

Can Allie & her team find this killer before he kills more? Is Allie the next victim?

Review: Follow the Leader (DS Allie Shenton) by Mel Sherratt
Follow The Leader (A DS Allie Shenton Novel) - Mel Sherratt

Publication Date: 20th February 2015

Publisher: Thomas & Mercer

ISBN: 978-1477821855

Rating: 4.5/5

A man’s body is found on a canal towpath. In his pocket, a magnetic letter in the shape of an E.

Days later, a second victim is found, this time with the letter V tucked into her clothing.

As the body count rises, the eerie, childlike clues point to a pattern that sends DS Allie Shenton and her colleagues into full alert.

The race is on. Allie and the team must work quickly to determine where the killer will strike next. The rules are simple but deadly—to catch the killer, they must follow the leader.

From the acclaimed author of Taunting the Dead comes a flesh-creeping tale of a child's game with a terrifying, grown-up twist. This is the second book in the DS Allie Shenton series but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story.

Although this is the second DS Allie Shenton novel, it's my first experience of reading Mel Sherratt. As crime is my favourite genre, it always makes me happy when I first read an author whose work I end up loving; that's what reading is all about!

Sherratt's writing is slick, DS Shenton is likeable and believable, the plot is entertaining. I'll definitely be reading more of Sherratt's novels.
