It frustrates me to no end when people say they hope I'm enjoying my "vacation". I'm not on vacation. I had emergency surgery and now I'm stuck at home for two weeks unable to do the smallest task on my own.
I would love it if I had two weeks of uninterrupted reading time but my pain meds basically make it impossible for me to focus. I'm just bummed so much that I was finally feeling normal for the first time in a few years and now I'm on light duty for at least 8 weeks.
Sorry for the rant just feeling upset.
Description: This is a biography of the three remarkable children of Edmund of Langley, first Duke of York: Edward, his successor, Constance, Lady Despenser and Countess of Gloucester, and Richard, Earl of Cambridge. This is first time that the facts of their lives have been assembled all in one place, and is based largely on the research the author did for his novel, Within the Fetterlock, with some new information added more recently.
Whisky Tango Foxtrot. See that biography description? What really is happening here is a few paragraphs that seems to be just an aide memoire for authors. You can tell by the Contents page:
P10... The Parents - Edmund of Langley, Duke of York, and Isabella of Castile, Duchess of York
P13...Son and Heir - edward, Earl of Rutland and Cork, Duke of Aumale, 2nd Duke of York
P26...Daughter of York - Constance, Lady Dispenser, Countess of Gloucester
P39...Richard the Obscure - Richard 'of Conisbrough', Earl of Cambridge
The subtle thread of internalized misogyny is kind of killing the mood. Paige really doesn't like women all the much, which is understandable give her problems with her mother, but still. All this talk of "sluts" and "bitches" is annoying the fuck out of me.
Can we PLEASE stop using "wife beater" to describe a tank top, especially in lesbian romance?
So a little while ago i posted on here complaining about parts of my posts going missing between when i hit 'save' and the post popping up.
