More For Young Adult Readers
Under a Brass Moon: Sci-Fi Steampunk Anthology - Jordan Elizabeth,Benjamin Sperduto,G Miki Hayden

A collection of twenty six "steampunk-ish" short stories. Some good, some not so good. Honestly, it felt more like a "young adult" collection, and more towards the younger side of that group. I've read much better steampunk anthologies.
I received this book as an advance reading copy from NetGalley.

The Heroine's Journey
The Heroine's Journey - G. Miki Hayden

In search for a Heroine's Journey in literature, as opposed to the Hero's Journey so often found, Gwen sets out on her own Heroine's Journey while also somehow interacting with her ancestor Guin who's trapped in the Middle Ages as she's trying very hard not to become England's next queen.

I hope you can see when looking at the above description I was a bit confused with the story. Or at least, it didn't really make a lot of sense to me. I missed some explanations as to what was going on. I mean, if they were able to communicate because Gwen is Guin's descendent, then why does she only see Guin? There must have been many generations before her. Why not them?

It was a very quick and fast paced read, I finished it in a few hours. The stories of the two girls were, when I managed to distinguish between them as their names are so similar, okay, although they were quite standard. The Medieval girl who wants to have a choice. I though Gwen lost focus on the Heroine's Project very fast in favour of the romance sub-plot. Unfortunately.

All in all, it had a great premise, but I'm not sure I like the execution...

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Something Furry Underfoot
Something Furry Underfoot - Amy L. Peterson,Alana Berthold,G. Miki Hayden,Patricia Adams Ms. Peterson has written a delightful memoir of her life with a variety of pets. From hedgehogs to ferrets and beyond, she paints a beautiful tale of caring for and loving these diverse creatures all the while enduring her husband's wish for 'just one more'. I think the story of the rescued duck, Bumpkin, touched me the most.

Animal lovers and animal rescuers will enjoy her gentle humor and identify with the sorrow she expressed at the loss of a beloved family member. Of note, Ms. Peterson donates a portion of her profits from the sale of each book to animal rescue.
