Like a Country Song
Girl with Guitar - Caisey Quinn

Sweet innocent Kylie just lost her much loved Dad in a horrible accident. He left her the evil stepmother who throws her out after accusing her of sleeping with her men toys. She takes what little she owns and heads to Nashville to fulfill a promise she made to her father. She is going to be a country star ! She need a job, a place to sleep and a place to play. After finding those she meets the biggest ego, drunkest player in town and there begins a new chapter on the country road of heartbreak and song.
It was cheesy, unbelievable, things just came together too easy, she was too naive, she was a virgin, luckily that wasn't a big issue in the story, and had some really dumb moments.
It was also, sweet, kind, warmhearted and sexy, wow somebody went to the peak ! It was what it was a country romance. The sex was written, nothing over done. The romance was nicely paced with cliffhanger to keep you coming back for book 2.
A Kindle freebie-

Reading progress update: I've read 52%.
Girl with Guitar - Caisey Quinn

Thinning down my kindle freebies I almost deleted this @7%, glad I didn't. I'm enjoying this, yes, predictable romantic country romp. Fun light and sexy

Girl with Guitar
Girl with Guitar - Caisey Quinn This was a FUN read. I liked the country music angle, even though I'm not a fan. I haven't watched the show Nashville, but it seemed like this could fit for fans of that series. Kylie is a strong, doesn't take shit from anyone heroine. Trace is smokin' hot, tortured hero. I'm a sucker for a tortured hero. He is battling demons of addiction. Kylie is trying to make it big in country music and joins Trace Corbin's tour, in his last ditch effort to revive a career destroyed by his reckless behavior. The sexual tension is palpable between the two. It's a very sexy read, even though there aren't very many love scenes.

I did have issue the with the word choices during the love scenes. There were a lot of words thrown around that weren't very sexy, in fact, they conjured images of violence, which wasn't in context with the scenes. They were down-right jarring at times. There was a lot of words that took me out of the moment and just hit me wrong. They just didn't fit with the mood of the scene.

I did enjoy reading about Nashville. I used to live there and so it has a particular appeal to me. I've tried to read other books set there, but this one did a much better job of conjuring the feeling of the place. The music that was interwoven throughout was very endearing and the author did a good job with it. Overall, I would recommend this book, however I went on to read books two and three and wish that I had stopped with this one. There is a HEA, but it doesn't resolve all the issues surrounding Trace and Kylie, which makes you want to keep reading. Book two works, but the author chose to end on a cliff-hanger, which of course sucks you into book three. Number three is a complete waste of time. The ending could have been written into book two and saved everyone a lot of aggravation.

Girl with Guitar
Girl with Guitar - Caisey Quinn 4.5 Stars

I was in one of those moods and this book about an Oklahoma girl hoping to make it big in Nashville was perfect. Kylie was a sweet and sassy eighteen year old trying to make her dreams comes true. She often times said first thought about it later, but it was one of the traits that endeared me to her. Trace was an absolute ass, but every once in a while we saw the man he should be lurking underneath that asshat he wore.

Onward to Girl on Tour.

Girl with Guitar (Kylie Ryans) (Volume 1)
Girl with Guitar - Caisey Quinn I really enjoyed this!

That would explain why I was up until 1:15am this morning just so I could finish it, and why I cried like a baby for probably the last 35% almost non-stop! If I cry, that means I've become emotionally involved and when that happens then I know I loved it.

I loved Kylie's determination to do what she wanted career wise and how she told Trace right from the off that she wouldn't put up with his crap on the tour.

As for Trace, he sort of fluctuated in my affections with his behaviour, one minute I loved him the next I wanted to smack him for what he'd done/said. But by the end he was firmly on the plus side of the scale, though how I managed to read the last half of the book through my tears, I'd never know!

I'm looking forward to reading Girl on Tour, to read more about Kylie and Trace's relationship!
