Conflicted
Red, White & Royal Blue - Casey McQuiston

I'm going to make this short.

Love:

Okay Alex and Henry are adorable and I totally love them. They go back and forth just like me and the hubs.

Hate:

The story just. Keeps. Going. Ffs it could have been wrapped up neatly well before it was. And the whole Richardson background story was way too cliche and easy to figure out. Because the book dragged on forever, I started to lose interest.

So, a good book but a bit slow and dull.

The Air You Breathe
The Air You Breathe - Frances de Pontes Peebles

I don't know how to feel about this book. Just about every character was awful and grated on my nerves. But the story was compelling and I had to see it to the end. So I am really not quite sure what to say. I will just give it 3 stars and call it a wash.

And I Darken (and snore): DNF at 50%
And I Darken - Kiersten White

I have been listening to this for almost 7 hours and absolutely nothing has happened. Nothing. A lot of Lada being an absolute bitch to anyone and everyone and her brother being an obviously homosexual wannabe Muslim and everyone else is out to kill them. I am so over this mess. I hate Lada. She is nasty and vindictive and rude. Everything she does "out of love" is manipulative. I kept on listening, praying for this to pick up, but it never did. All battles were skipped, which is such a Twilight move. Any time a fight scene might come up, the chapter ends, the next begins and everything is over. It's just lazy writing. A lot of fluff and filler. Boring.

All The Bright Places
All the Bright Places - Jennifer Niven

I really have no clue what to think of this. As a person who doesn't remember a time she wasn't suicidal to some degree, I can sympathize with these characters. I also feel for Finch because his family is so bent on turning a blind eye to the obvious mental illness he suffers from. My mom never admitted I was sick. When I was in a bleak or black mood, she would always say "it's just part of being a woman. Get over it." I went years without help and nearly drowned in the emotional turmoil before I got help. The thing that bothered me about this was how much of a bad influence Finch was on Violet while also being a good influence. I just feel like some of his behavior was dangerous. But bless his heart, he needed help. This book is on the local school district's required reading for high school, but I think PARENTS need to read this. Read this and talk to your kids. And pay attention.

Accidentally in Love › Laura Drewry 99 cents
Accidentally in Love (Friends First) - Laura Drewry

Ellie Palmer and cops don’t mix, and getting pulled over by Officer Brett Hale—again—doesn’t help. Neither does being forced to take a safe-driving course with him. Brett’s by-the-book attitude leaves Ellie ice-cold, and his rock-hard body won’t change that. Still, the more time she spends with the guy, the more she finds herself warming up to his unexpected charms.

Even though Brett comes off like a boy scout, Ellie has sparked something he wants badly enough to get him to rethink his past mistakes. But when her ex shows up, Brett makes it his mission to keep Ellie safe in the here and now. His gut tells him the guy’s trouble, and Ellie must agree, because she doesn’t complain when Brett pulls her close. To keep her safe, though, he’ll have to choose between breaking her heart . . . and breaking the rules.
