Queer Magick (Queer Magick #1) by L.C. Davis
Queer Magick - L.C. Davis

After years of being imprisoned, used and abused by his father, Holden is finally settling down in Stillwater, a small New England town. He's been on the run for a long time, trying to cover his tracks by changing his name and moving from one place to another as far away from his home state as possible.

A happy protective bubble of Stillwater seems like heaven. It has a few quirks, of course, but which town does not? Everyone knows everybody and people are mostly friendly. That is until Holden meets Daniel, a local vet (who is a veteran). An injured cat and the severity of the injury make Holden a catnapper when he refuses to surrender the poor kitty for euthanization and flees the clinic.

Daniel knows what Holden is and confronts him shortly after catnapping. From that moment on the town secrets and the mysterious creatures start coming out of the woodwork full force. Every time you turn the page, there is a surprise. Every time you think you finally know who/what the person is, you are proven wrong. Things, people, situations turn and twist; there is humor, there are pockets of darkness and despair; there is an amazing diversity of characters (not going into details on the characters' subject, cause - spoilers! ;))

I could not get enough of the book and really wanted to give it five stars, but here is this:

- it ends smack in the middle of things. I can't even call it a cliffhanger, more like the author roughly separated the manuscript in two without much thought.

- the story lost its momentum around 80%. Instead of fast paced it became stagnant with characters sitting around in one spot for weeks, waiting for the next full moon, reflecting, eating pizza and even (finally) having sex, since there is literally nothing else to do. But it looks like things are going to pick up with a vengeance in book two :D

Otherwise, an excellent read and pure pleasure :) Highly recommended

Book Review For: Incubus by Celia Aaron
Incubus - Celia Aaron

Incubus by Celia Aaron is the story of Roth de Lis and Lilah de Artemis. Lilah was around 25 years old when she was chosen by the Goddess Artemis to be a Maiden warrior with immortality. Roth is a Incubus from the powerful underworld. As a Incubus he seeks pleasure from multiple women... and the women seek him.
Lilah fell pray to Farrow a wolf who tricked her which in the end caused her to be banished from Olympus and sent to Earth.
Now after such banishment she has been trying to find her way back and to redeem herself. Lilah thinks she has done so when she strikes a deal with the God of War to bring in Roth...who has a high price on his head.
Liliah tries not to feel anything for Roth...'isn't he just like other men to use women' she thinks. But the more she learns of him the harder it is for her. Roth too is so taken with Lilah he starts to fight his Incubus but he knows there is more to her than what she is showing.
I could not put this book down! Loved it!

The Incubus and the Woodcutter - Yamila Abraham

It's been awhile since I delved into yaoi.

So why not with a quick freebie?

Very simple fairy tale:

Figaru, an incubus wakes up from a hibernation ready to bury his D. The homely local woodcutter is his massive cock's target. With a sort of dub-con ish seduction, the virgin woodsmen gets a mate.

Nothing world rocking.

Easy, erotic and free with PICTURES!

The Only Exception (Incubus Rising #3) by Jennifer Mancini
The Only Exception: An Incubus Rising Novella - Book Three - Jennifer Mancini
The Only Exception is the third book in the Incubus Rising series, but can be read as a standalone. I haven't read books one or two, but this did not have any negative effect on my enjoyment of this book.

This is a fast-paced novella, that nevertheless manages to tell a complete story AND give a satisfactory ending. It starts off with a substitute teacher staying with a 7-year-old girl until she is picked up from school. Even though this was a Paranormal Romance, it was good to see a degree of realism in there too, eg. waiting for authorisation on the school list.

Well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt from the reading flow, there are some steamy scenes, plus angst as they try to figure a way to be together. All-in-all, this was a short but satisfying read. Definitely recommended by me.

* I received this book from Book Review 22 in return for a fair and honest review. *
