This is porn. Nothing else. Pure porn.
An Indecent Wager - Georgette Brown

How can this ever fall into a romance category? There is nothing here but a sexual encounter between a woman who lost in gambling to a man who would trade 50 pounds of her debt for a night of pure fu&king. That's all this is. Nothing after that. It stays on that one night of se%.

I purchased this book because I was under the false impression (thanks to the very wrongly category of steamy regency romance on Amazon) that I will actually read a story. Not read about two people boinking each other as the main focus with absolutely nothing else to follow.

I am beyond mad that this can fall into historical romance and steamy regency romance categories because it doesn't deserve to be there with the rest. This has as much of a plot as a porn video "with a story" where a guy comes to deliver pizza to some woman and then they boink and then he leaves, the end.

If you are looking for a se% scene, sure go ahead but even in that it is really below mediocre but if you are looking for something to actually read, for some actual characters and storyline, you are certainly not going to find it here.

Outstanding Historical Romance
An Indecent Invitation - Laura Trentham

An Indecent Invitation by Laura Trentham is a fabulous historical romance.  Ms. Trentham has provided readers with a well-written book.  Lily had words with her father and the next day he was gone.  She's determined to find her father.  Gray is a Crown spy and is also looking for his mentor, Lily's father.  Lily and Gray's story is packed with drama, phenomenal characters, humor, sizzle, action and suspense.  This book had me glued to my chair from cover to cover.  I look forward to my next book by Laura Trentham.  An Indecent Invitation is book 1 of the Spies and Lovers Series but can be read as a standalone.  This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Quick & Steamy
Lady Hathaway's Indecent Proposal - Suza... Lady Hathaway's Indecent Proposal - Suzanna Medeiros

Lady Hathaway's Indecent Proposal is a fabulous historical romance by Suzanna Medeiros. Ms. Medeiros has provided readers with a well-written book populated with outstanding characters. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Miranda was forced to give up Edward when her parents convinced her to marry another. Edward is now the Earl of Sanderson and agrees with Miranda's proposition because the temptation to have her in his bed is great as is his need to show her what she threw away. Miranda and Edward's story is loaded with drama, humor and steamy sex. I enjoyed reading Lady Hathaway's Indecent Proposal and look forward to reading more from Suzanna Medeiros in the future. Lady Hathaway's Indecent Proposal is book 1 of the Hathaway Heirs Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Indecent Werewolf Exposure - Eve Langlai... Indecent Werewolf Exposure - Eve Langlais

I am not the target audience of this book. I wouldn't have gotten it if it weren't for a) I read the author and b) it was free.

Beyond my not caring for menage, the issues I had with it were... it's in first person. I used to be a lot more ok with first person than I am now but I came to realize I dislike being in the heads of morons, or in this case, a defense attorney. Because really, who wants to know the unprofessional thoughts going through her head while she's interviewing a prospective client...ot the state of her pieces parts during said interview.

The second was the best friend who seemed to be more invested in her sex life than she was.

The third was the mom who, in spite of the h's protests, was way too interested in giving details on HER sex life.

Fourth was everyone overriding her protests that she didn't want to be in a threesome. EVERYone. Mom, bestie, of course the two dickheads who had a vested interest. As for those, I was strangely more ok with the vampire than the werewolf, mostly because he wasn't nearly so pushy. The werewolf mostly just irritated me by acting like an overgrown frat boy.

And finally, what kind of ending was that?! We get all the details of the courtship but when she's finally accepted that they'll both be in her life, it's more like a custodial arrangement where one gets her one day or something, which sounds just sucky to me. One assumes that eventually they're all just one big happy family but...?

Indecent Suggestion (Harlequin Blaze, #189) - Elizabeth Bevarly

Smokin'

First one of these friends-to-lovers books that I haven't spent half of it muttering invectives at one of the MCs.

H loves the h. He knows it, he's known it for some time. But she's shown reluctance to move past friendship and he doesn't want to lose her completely.

h is having difficulties of late - she keeps remembering a party a few years back where they'd come close to ah...doing it. She doesn't want to mess the friendship up though, because for several weeks after the incident (which she'd come to her senses and stopped before tab A got anywhere near slot B), he'd been cranky and had avoided her. She's a bit slow on the uptake. She's attracted, but in her mind, feels like she came on to him and that anything more will screw things up.

They have a little smoking issue. He loses a bet so they attend a hypnotherapist who gets them mixed up with a newlywed couple who're having...difficulties. The unsafe word is "underwear" - a bad thing since they're working on an advertising project for a company that makes sexy...underwear. This causes some hilarity initially as the poor h is affected by this (the H apparently wasn't open for that particular suggestion) and well, she seems to have little inhibition when the word is uttered. Eventually though, he is clued in - by the hypnotherapist who asks him how everything is going, which is when they figure out the mixup.

Much soul searching and a visit to said hypnotherapist later, she's figured things out for herself and corners in his lair where he's hiding, feeling sorry for himself. A bit of hanky-panky and a ring later, HEA.

Highlights - likable couple. Did I mention smokin'? I meant the steamy version; not the one they originally sought the hypnotherapist for.

Low-lights - was he really willing to play third wheel if it meant being able to be around her? The narrative was like, you know, being in someone's, I dunno, head. (yes; there were places it was written like that). Ok, thinking about that, we are theoretically supposed to be in someone's head but it shouldn't be so choppy there. Speech I can see.
