Than a Rogue by Sophie Barnes

More Than a Rogue

The Crawfords Series by Sophie Barnes Publication Date: June 25, 2019 Genres: Adult, Historical, Romance
All she wanted was a kiss… What she got, was fiery passion… Emily Howard knows she is destined to be a spinster. She has accepted this fate, but that doesn’t stop her from wanting to experience kissing. What she doesn’t expect, is for Griffin Crawford, the handsomest man in the world, to do the honors. Or for all her female relations to discover her in his embrace. Naturally, marriage is instantly mentioned, but since Emily knows this is not what Griffin wants, she tries to escape him, her family and the ensuing scandal. When Emily flees the Camberly ball in the wake of their kiss, Griffin goes in pursuit. He will not allow his sister-in-law’s determined friend to risk her safety for any reason. And risk it she will if she means to return to her countryside home by herself. But the longer he remains in her company, the more he is tempted to kiss her again. If only he could risk falling in love and remain in England forever.

About Sophie Barnes

Born in Denmark, Sophie has spent her youth traveling with her parents to wonderful places all around the world. She has studied design in Paris and New York and has a bachelor’s degree from Parson’s School of design, but most impressive of all – she’s been married to the same man three times, in three different countries and in three different dresses. While living in Africa, Sophie turned to her lifelong passion – writing. When she’s not busy, dreaming up her next romance novel, Sophie enjoys spending time with her family. She currently lives on the East Coast.
My Review
5 Stars
Than a Rogue by Sophie Barnes is book Two in The Crawfords Series.  This is the story of Griffin Crawford and Emily Howard. Griffin and Emily did appear in the first book, which I have read (and Loved!), but feel you could make this a standalone if you wish to do so.
Emily is 26 years old who doesn't think anyone would want her. Emily has settled in to the life of a spinster.  But she is tempted to experience a kiss which she does with Griffin but they were caught.  Emily knows that Griffin wouldn't want to be forced into a marriage and goes running from the ball to make it back to the country.
Griffin wants to make sure that Emily is okay but the more time they are together the more he feels more for her.
Loved their story! I am such a fan of Ms. Barnes's writing...I always know I will be getting a great story.

Book Tour - Frenemies

by Nicole Blanchard

Publication Date: April 30, 2019

Genres: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Purchase: Apple Books | Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo | Google Play

Dashiel Hampton is her enemy.

Layla Tate reminds herself of that fact every morning she goes to class and sees his smug face smirking up at her. There hasn’t been a moment they weren’t pitted against each other and she refuses to back down…not even when she learns he’s her new teaching assistant.

Layla Tate is going down.

There is nothing that makes Dash Hampton as happy as the look on Layla’s face when she realizes he’s won. He lives to drive her crazy because if he can’t have her beneath him, then he’ll have her any other way he can. He’ll get her to notice him, even if it means making her semester a living hell. When their classroom rivalry crosses the line between frenemies and forbidden, the hardest lesson they’ll have to learn is that sometimes you have to lose to win.

“I said I was a virgin, Dash, not that I was completely inexperienced.”

With that statement, Layla straddled me in one swift movement that had my eyes popping open and my hands settling on her hips. “What are you doing?”

She fitted her mouth to my neck, and I arched back, but there was nowhere to go. “You’re crazy if you think you aren’t good enough for anyone.”

Sweet mother of God, I could feel the heat of her through my jeans and the strain of my dick against my pants was going to send me to an early grave. “That’s a veritable compliment coming from you.”

“I’m pretty sure it was a compliment.” Her fingers begin mapping my shoulders, tracing my chest, and I wondered if I was in heaven or hell.

“I always knew you were sadistic,” I managed to say.

She let out a throaty giggle. “I think you’re masochistic because you sure seem to like it.”

My hands bit into her hips. “Oh, I like it, but you need to stop.”

Layla ground down onto my erection. “Are you sure?”

“Christ, Layla,” I bit out, then drove my fingers into her hair. I took her mouth with a violence that shocked the both of us. After a few moments, I broke it off. Breathing hard, I asked, “What do you want from me?” I wanted to tell her, take it, you can have whatever you want, but I didn’t think she was ready for that.

Frenemies (Friend Zone Series Book 2)Frenemies by Nicole Blanchard
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book is #2, in the Friend Zone series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers, and have a better understanding of the series, I recommend reading it in order.

Layla has been competing with Dash for many years. Suddenly he is her instructor for a college course. Under other circumstances she may have had an alternative but this is forced upon her to graduate.

Dash has been attracted to Layla for some time. Her being upset and angry - he finds it hot. As her teacher he can't do anything about it. Not that she would let him. Only time will tell now.

This was kind of a punch to the gut right from the start. Everything happened so fast for the characters. The sparks are definitely flying. The series continues with some heat and angst.

***This early copy was given in exchange for an honest review only.

But now that we’re secluded and alone, lines blur and control quickly loses to need. Someone is trying to snuff out my life, but they may not get the chance if I’m devoured whole by my saviors first.

About Ker Dukey

My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of you seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles…prepare for the unexpected. I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up. My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling. When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.

My review
4 Stars
The Warlock's Conquest by Lorelei Moone is book 4 in the Black Isle Series.  This is the story of Ferris and Eryn. There is a underlining story that seems to follow the books, but I thought you could make this a standalone book.
Ferris had been away when his sister Kelly was taken to the Black Isles. This set into motion Ferris to work to get her back.  Eryn is a commander / solider that guards the Black Isles.  When Ferris is taken when he attempts to attack she is the one that is suppose set his death in motion.  But there is something about him that is giving her doubts about hurting him.
Overall an exciting paranormal/fantasy read.
