About TAKEN WITH YOU:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Carrie Ann Ryan comes a new story in her Fractured Connections series…

It all started at a wedding. Beckham didn’t mean to dance with Meadow. And he really didn’t mean to kiss her. But now, she’s the only thing on his mind. And when it all comes down to it, she’s the only person he can't have.

He'll just have to stay away from her, no matter how hard they’re pulled together.

Running away from her friend's wedding isn't the best way to keep the gossip at bay. But falling for the mysterious and gorgeous bartender at her friends’ bar will only make it worse. Beckham has his secrets, and she refuses to pry.

Once burned, twice kicked down, and never allowed to get up again. Yet taking a chance with him might be the only choice she has. And the only one she wants.

**For fans of Carrie Ann’s Fractured Connections series, Taken With You is book four in that series.**

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Carrie Ann has teased us with Beckham and Meadow from the start, and the actual thing is SOOOO worth it. Both characters have been a bit of a mystery and it's no wonder with their past it's a doozy. While it's not my favorite it's still a really emotional, heart wrenching, satisfying read and it's just a novella. Beckham is the bearded silent type (my favorite) and Meadow is not really shy but quiet and keeps to herself for the most part and with what she's hiding from I don't blame her. From the start of the series you could tell they would make a great couple and this story just proves it. It was a nice little story to tide me over until Dillon's book which is going to be a while.

AUTHOR INFORMATION:

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan never thought she’d be a writer. Not really. No, she loved math and science and even went on to graduate school in chemistry. Yes, she read as a kid and devoured teen fiction and Harry Potter, but it wasn’t until someone handed her a romance book in her late teens that she realized that there was something out there just for her. When another author suggested she use the voices in her head for good and not evil, The Redwood Pack and all her other stories were born. Carrie Ann is a bestselling author of over twenty novels and novellas and has so much more on her mind (and on her spreadsheets *grins*) that she isn’t planning on giving up her dream anytime soon.

Every woman in Millie Delacroix’s family is cursed—kind of.

Birth control just doesn’t work for them. Like ever. Going to the altar knocked up is pretty much a family tradition. And twenty-four-year-old Millie refuses to let that happen to her—again.

Especially now that she’s responsible for raising her brothers and sister. A life of celibacy is her best defense—at least until the kids are grown and can take care of themselves. And, really, what’s ten years with no sex? No men. No sex. No love. It’s a fool-proof plan.

Until she meets Luc Valencia.

The Mexican-American contractor is just trying to do his best. Since his father handed him the reins to the family business, every day is a test to prove himself. At this point in his life, professionalism has to be his top priority.

At least until Millie becomes Luc’s client. Even with too much on her shoulders, the feisty redhead has the power to set him off, crack him up, or bring him to his knees.

All he has to do is resist falling for her through one kitchen remodel, and everything will be fine. Right?

The story is as adorable as the cover. It's a great romance with memorable characters. I think Fournet did a fantastic job with her diversity. I grew up in a border town with mostly Mexican-Americans and Mexicans and being third generation on my dad's side I can tell you family gatherings and going to friends houses for holidays were always crazy, fun, with such good food and Fournet captured that with the Valencia Thanksgiving. I fell in love with Luc, he's patient, kind, good with kids, a hard worker, good with his hands put him on the ever growing list of book boyfriends and kick a few guys further down the list. I'd love to be more like Millie as strong as she is able to take guardianship of her three siblings after the death of both parents and a bad break up and more she is patient and so loving and so scared of going into another relationship for fear it would end like her first.

Millie's parents, a doctor and an interior decorator, left them off well enough Millie didn't have to worry about money, they even had some earmarked for the kitchen renovation. Millie wasn't expecting it but after hearing her what her mother had planned she knew they needed to do the remodel. Luc is trying run the company his father built from the ground up, he's trying to be the boss he needs to be while not disappointing his father. Falling in love with Millie was not what he intended but the strong woman who took on raising three kids needed to be loved and cherished too he just needed her to realize that very reason she's thinks will scare him away just makes him love her all the more. But the process of them getting there is hilarious and so worth the read.

BOOK TRAILER

This was a great short read. Jonathan Lake won our hearts in The Start of Something Good and now we get to see a different side of him. Jonathan has been single for a while now not worrying about love when he's been concentrating on being NYC Mayor. Alyssa Block has always avoided the spotlight she prefers remaining on the sidelines and helping that way, she's uber organized and brilliant. Alyssa is the exact opposite of Jonathan's wife personality wise but after the years all those differences started to appeal to him and her wicked intelligence. But with Jonathan running for Governor she doesn't know if she can take the spotlight, and how people will perceive her.

I love that fact that once Jonathan admitted to himself that he wanted something more with her he was in 100% but he respected Alyssa's wishes and stepped back. As always Jennifer Probst is a master at romance easily blending humor and just a bit of angst to make wonderful characters with a memorable romance.

INKSLINGER BLOG TOUR Most Ardently by Susan Mesler-Evans

Today we have the blog tour of Susan Mesler-Evans Most Ardently! Check it out and be sure to grab your copy today!

Title: Most Ardently

Author: Susan Mesler-Evans

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Most Ardently:

Elisa Benitez is proud of who she is, from her bitingly sarcastic remarks, to her love of both pretty boys and pretty girls. If someone doesn’t like her, that’s their problem, and Elisa couldn’t care less. Particularly if that person is Darcy Fitzgerald, a snobby, socially awkward heiress with an attitude problem and more money than she knows what to do with.

From the moment they meet, Elisa and Darcy are at each other’s throats -- which is a bit unfortunate, since Darcy’s best friend is dating Elisa’s sister. It quickly becomes clear that fate intends to throw the two of them together, whether they like it or not. As hers and Darcy’s lives become more and more entwined, Elisa’s once-dull world quickly spirals into chaos in this story of pride, prejudice, and finding love with the people you least expect.

I loved the direction this one went, I love how inclusive it was with lesbian, bi, trans; and biracial characters. I also really liked the changes in the characters. In some of the early reviews some of the things they nitpicked about were the things I liked. I like the changes to the Colin and Lydia characters there is nothing wrong with making them more likeable especially since I really hated the original characters. I loved the updatedness it worked well. I was worried how the Lydia, or in this case Lucia, was going to play out but she did exactly what I had always hoped would happen to Wickham. He has always been a money hungry pervy creep and it was nice to see actually portrayed in this manner.

Now the main character Elisa Benitez, Elizabeth Bennet, is a bi-sexual Mexican American and while technically is still a high school student goes to school at the local community college which is where she meets Darcy Fitzgerald. Darcy a biracial cis lesbian who is just visiting but is staying long enough she fills her time with some college classes before she starts at the university. Their first meet as you can guess is argumentative, they get into a literary debate over Lord of the Flies. It doesn't get any better when they just happen to start running into each other in social situations. It plays out pretty much the same as the original except updated for modern American times, except for the slight personality changes in Colin and Lucia. It's a little bit more obvious to the reader that Darcy and Elisa like each other but Elisa is a little oblivious.

Overall, such a good read. I inhaled this book I didn't want to put it down. It's in third person POV but sometimes changes from over Elisa to Julieta, Charlene, Lucia, and Darcy. It is more of a romance than a social commentary but had there been more I can just hear how people would be complaining that it's "Too Preachy"; there is some and it the right amount of feminism and in one particular case it's also the reason Colin isn't a douche at the end of the book. I loved this book it's definitely one that I would own a physical copy of to keep on my bookshelf.
