White Fur by Jardine Libaire

White Fur by Jardine Libaire is out today.
There is to say that, as for the rest of the books of the group Penguin Random House, this one is a Crown publishing book, it is wonderfully written.
There is a lightness in writing-style, a sophisticated touch that I can just tell it's simply enchanting.

The story is pretty sad.
It's an encounter.
The fatal encounter able to change the existence and the destiny of two young people.
For worse.

Elise and James or Jamey are people of two completely different worlds, with different expectations and destinies, expectations "chosen" from life because of their birth.

Elise Perez  is great in love-making and it's what James Hyde find fascinating at first although there is another girl Millie in his life, but no comparison with this wild creature she met one day.

Elise lived a frustrating childhood. Can you believe it? Her first orgasm was on a bus when she was 11 years old.
She grew up in foster houses, her family pretty disconnected, she discovered sex at just 7 years and she understood it pretty soon.
No high school, very different background from the one of James.

James will become someone.
He is a junior at Yale, his family is very good, he didn't live a strained life and he is also extremely rich.

You know: I am not skeptical: sometimes it happens like when Cinderella met Prince Charming and well it was good, no?
It happens in real life as well without to disturb a classic fairy-tale but in this novel the story is pretty hard, very disturbing.

The two can't stop to love each other of a sick love and this consumption, this union, will bring devastating conclusions while James' family, obviously will try all his best for trying to interrupt this relationship and this perdition. But no, James can't stop it because Elise slowly became his only reason of life. His obsession.

Problem with love in this book is that the two protagonists are good for each other because of James's insecurities first of all. He thinks that with Elise he found his answers. You can have everything without to have nothing in your hands although your family is very good.
James thought he discovered a Paradise with Elise while he precipitated in a hell.

At the same time Elise found someone in love for her after such a nasty life and this is priceless although she is not as enchanted as Jamey is  about life. Both of them have profound wounds to cure, both of them are dysfunctional. Both of them are perfect to each other for this reason.

Their love is so immense that at a certain point they will escape away together, from everyone and everything but Jamey is in the hospital...
Elise is addicted to James and Jamey can't live without her, without to feeling that she is close to him.

The book is set in 1986-1987.

The book in its genre can be considered a jewel because these stories happen, just at the end of them invariably you feel sadness.

I didn't love the cover at all. Considering the topic pretty stressing I would have picked up something more relaxing to look at, for then falling in the reading, but dividing the moments ;-) just for giving some relaxation to the mind.

I thank NetGalley and Crown Publishing for this ebook

good story and characters
White Fur - Jardine Libaire

Elise meets Jamey in New Haven when the two are neighbors. Jamey goes to Yale and his path in life is laid out by his wealthy, determined parents. There is a fake white fur jacket Elise  traded some chips to a girl for and wears it all the time. Elise grew up on the wrong side of the tracks in the projects. But Elise knows who she is and she knows she wants a better life for herself. Elise was unsophisticated, uneducated HS dropout. She was also biracial with no plan.   Elise run away and leaves her mom behind who she loves but can’t force herself to say with her. She stays in a car to get some sleep and when the owner of the car finds her he takes her home and they become friends and roommates or things could have turned out a lot worse for Elise. Elise sees Jamey and Matt outside and heads out to meet them. Jamey is from money , his mother had been a Hollywood starlet and his father is an investment banker. Jamey is to follow in his dad's footsteps in a firm handed down by his grandfather. Jamey had never been happy before he met Elise. He knows there has been an emptiness and feels Elise will fill that. Jamey and Elise try to figure out how to fit in each others world as they start a relationship. Elise doesn’t  Jamiy is offered an internship in NYC. He asked Elise to go with him. Elise does not like the demanding need she has for Jamey. Jamey’s family are willing to do almost anything to break them up. But Jamey refuses to leave Elise as she is all he wants.  and soon they are obsessed with each other. Elise’s family is more real and geared for survival therefore more accepting. Almost everyone is against them.

I really liked this story. I felt it was realistically portrayed but it still had the feel of Romeo and Juliet or moreso Pretty Woman. But I also felt it was gritty and raw and full of emotions. I loved that the characters weren’t perfect just as in real life. However it was a bit repetitive at times. But I still felt it was well written. It also had a good plot. But it also dragged a little at times not enough to make me want to stop reading though.I t kept my attention all through the book. But all and all a good read, I liked the characters and the ins and outs and I recommend.

White Fur - Jardine Libaire

A very, very strange love story about a rich boy who is enthralled with a very poor girl and her lifestyle. He's a very sad boy even with all his money. He sees this girl with nothing and how happy she is and he just doesn't understand it. How can she be so happy when she has nothing?

He asks her to be his girlfriend and gives up his money. Maybe together with her, he can find that happiness too.

Then one night, through no choice of his own, his rich friends really mess with his psyche. Will he overcome this?

An interesting love story told in a very unusual way.

Thanks to Crown Publishing and Net Galley for allowing me to read and review this out of the ordinary love story.

White Fur
White Fur - Jardine Libaire I just finished [b:White Fur|32025142|White Fur|Jardine Libaire|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1481903804s/32025142.jpg|52666279] now, at 4am, so I'm trying to process my thoughts and feelings so I can give an accurate review. I have to admit this wasn't what I expected. I was really looking forward to an ARC of this title because there's been a bit of buzz about it lately and what I've read, mostly the reviews of others, has intrigued me very much. However, once I obtained a copy and began reading it myself, my initial impression was that I wasn't going to like it. I think the first half of the book really dragged slowly for me but in hindsight it might have been necessary to really give the characters depth and dimension, and the second half picked right up and it was one thing right after another until the end.

[b:White Fur|32025142|White Fur|Jardine Libaire|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1481903804s/32025142.jpg|52666279] is a Romeo and Juliet type of story where two young adults from different worlds are brought together by fate and circumstances and are basically forced to go to war with the world in order to defend their relationship. It was really a touching and beautiful story, very well written, and honest and heartbreaking. It really makes you recognize the vast divide between social classes, keeping segregation alive and well when children are taught from a young age that they are either better than, or less than, building the foundation of their image and ideas about themselves and others. This was the case for Jayme who was born to a prominent family with a silver spoon in his mouth. He was attending Yale with a promising career and a bright and lucrative future mapped out before him and image and reputation meant everything to everyone he surrounded himself, especially his "lilywhite" father. Then there was Elise, a biracial, high school dropout from the wrong side of the track who lived every day like it was her last without giving second thought to her image or her future. The two begin seeing each other and try to figure out how they can fit into each other's world when their lives are so fundamentally different and they soon learn that it won't be without sacrifice and compromise. I don't want to get to in depth with this review and give anything away that would spoil another's enjoyment of this wonderful story but I will say that this is a book worth reading, and sticking with even if it starts out slow. It picks up quickly in the second half and so many things happen, it's such a beautiful journey these two good hearted, well meaning, star crossed lovers embark on and I enjoyed it so much I was sorry it had to end.

I'm rating [b:White Fur|32025142|White Fur|Jardine Libaire|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1481903804s/32025142.jpg|52666279] with four out of five stars and the only reason I'm not giving all five is because I did think the beginning was a little slow. But seriously, this is a great book! Definitely worth the read and I highly recommend it.

I received an advanced copy of White Fur from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
