Wes and Toren by J.M. Colail 3.5 Star Review!
Wes and Toren - J.M. Colail

It's not so easy being young, gay, and in love for the first time at the average high school. Senior Toren Grey cares more about his family and his grades than what brand of clothes he wears. He agrees with the majority consensus that he's a nerd. So he's quite surprised when resident bad boy Wesley Carroll speaks to him in the hall, stirring feelings that Toren has to hide.

Disconcerted by Wes's free and easy ways, Toren can't deny the attraction between them. As he relaxes and gets to know Wes better, he finds there's more to the sexy rebel than his public image. Before long the young men are exploring new territory and falling in love, but life just isn't that simple. After they graduate, obstacles block their relationship at every turn: Wes working versus Toren in college, the virulent disapproval of parents, and everyday trials faced by any struggling young couple. Wes and Toren have to believe in each other... and never doubt that their love can conquer all.

Review

I picked up this book because it was on someone's comfort read list and I can totally see why.

It is a sweet and hot (we are talking two young heroes under 20 so a ton of sex). We get the fun of a nerd and bad boy. There is really nice work thinking about entering the world of college and work wand staying with your first love.

There is a great mom and sisters and while some of the finer details are missing, it is a good read that will make you smile.

Wes and Toren
Wes and Toren - J.M. Colail 2,5 stars

That was an incredibly boring book. I am proud of myself for being able to actually finish it. It wasn’t that it was bad, but it was just so uneventful en repetitive.

Toren is surprised to be getting attention from the bad boy of the school, Wesley. Toren is shy, nerdy and has no idea why Wesley would like him. But Wesley pursues him no matter what and it is not long before Toren is thoroughly swept off his feet.
There is not much more to say about their relationship than this: They fall in love, they graduate high school, they move in together after Wesley is kicked out of the house by his homophobic parents and they live happily ever after. Oh and there is LOTS and LOTS of sex.

Normally I would like such a story line. Not a lot has to happen if I am in love with the characters. But this was just so boring. It just draaaagged on and on. Even the sex.. it was so repetitive and unrealistic. These two were like energized sex bunnies on speed, no recovery time whatsoever needed! One orgasm after the other.. Normally I would be on the first row to see this, but it was rather unimaginative. Toren came home from school, these two would have (boring) sex, they would sleep and they would have some more sex. Then they would be apart for a day and then guess what, more sex!

The writing was not bad but I missed some emotion. It is not enough to just write that someone is sad or happy, you have to make the reader FEEL it.. And that was not the case with this book. Too bad, it really had potential.

Wes and Toren - J.M. Colail 3.5 stars

Beautiful story! It flat-lined after a while though and I missed being on an emotional roller-coaster. I would have loved an epilogue too.
