from FictionZeal.com re: Destiny's Pawn by D.A. Keeley
Destiny's Pawn (A Peyton Cote Novel) - D A Keeley

Peyton Cote is a Border Patrol Agent in northern Maine’s Aroostook County.  Her duty is to prevent anyone from crossing the border illegally.  As the story begins, she finds a lone thirteen-year-old Ukrainian boy seeking political asylum.  It was apparent to her he’d been in the elements for some time.  His name is Aleksei Vann.  His family’s home had been bombed by pro-Russian separatists.  His mother was wounded and his father, Dariya, sent him here by various means to live with his Aunt Bohana who lives in Maine.

Bohana Donovan has a family of her own and a son, Michael, who’d recently received an acceptance letter from the University of Maine.  He has a great appreciation for art.  He tells his friend, “That’s why I love it—it’s created for the benefit of humanity.  No one owns it.  No one has the right to do so.”  Michael knows a little something about the Boston Gardner Museum art heist from a quarter of a century before … something he stumbled upon …something he shouldn’t know.

Although purely fictional, the novel does reference back to an actual twenty-five-year-old art heist from Boston’s Gardner Museum.  As a side note and for you treasure hunters out there, The Museum offers a $5 million reward for any information leading to the recovery of these works.  Peyton Cote is a strong female protagonist.  She’s a single mom trying to balance work and home life.  She can be tough when she needs to be, but she’s also not afraid to show her compassionate side.  The novel has an international twist and an explosive end that I just didn’t see coming.  It is third in a series, but can be comfortably read as a stand-alone.  Rating: 4 out of 5.

OH NO, OH NO, OH NO, TABOO, WHATEVER WILL WE DO?!?!? What happens when one completely broken girl with an absolutely terrible background run into two sexy brothers??? A great idea for a story. This was good, but could have been better if it was longer.

Keeley's Fight
Keeley's Fight - K.L. Donn This was such a great concept!! I loved the idea of Keeley with brothers. It is taboo, yes!!=) I really wanted more, more, more. I think this could have been a trilogy! I needed more of all the characters! The brothers were so hot and sweet! Overall I would say 3.5 stars for this one!

"Feeling" down? Read this
The Book of "Unnecessary" Quotation Marks: A Celebration of Creative Punctuation - Bethany Keeley

This mocks signs that use unnecessary, and at time, baffling quotation marks.

One sign simply read:

"Locked?"

That was the whole sign.   One sign read that drugs were prohibited in Mexico by "law", and the commentary was that either Mexican laws were wobbly things, or that some vigilante named Law took care of the drug trade in Mexico.  (Sometimes the commentary was as good, if not better, than the signs themselves.)

I laughed, I cried (because I was laughing so hard), and then I laughed again .  A quick, fun read if you also get confused by how many people don't know how to properly use quotation marks.

Indestructible (The Sanguine Sky Chronicles Book 1)
Indestructible (The Sanguine Sky Chronicles Book 1) - Aislin Keeley Jaden is a vampire, he wasn't turned he was born vampire. His a dangerous guy, his also a guardian and feared by the shadows.

Alice is your average girl, with a couple of sassy friends. Shes a single girl more comfortable staying in, she's certainly out of place in a nightclub.

Jaden has a new task, to find and protect the Firebrand. A firebrand is a dangerous person that has lots of power. He has no choice as his part of a group of vamps that protect the humans.

Jaden is instantly drawn to alice and meeting her changes the tough Jaden, I thought he was lovely even though very dangerous.... Alice is a sexy woman, she's had a tough time, can she ever trust again.

I really liked how the background of the vamps was told through the book, not all at beginning. You could say there are similarities to BDB as in there guardians, but I found that's about it, they all have there own personalities and gifts.

A thoroughly enjoyable read, with the right mix of romance, sex, adventure and danger. I can't wait for book 2, not sure who's story id like next....

A fabulous start to an engrossing vampire series.

5 vampy and sexy stars.
