Locke & Key, Volume 1: Welcome to Lovecraft by Joe Hill
Locke & Key, Vol. 1: Welcome to Lovecraft - Joe Hill,Gabriel Rodríguez

This is an incredible introduction to this series by Joe Hill. The story is intriguing. The characters are unique. And I am in LOVE with the art style Gabriel Rodriguez did a fantastic job in bringing this horrifying story to life. I won't say too much about this series because I feel like saying anything will spoil the story, as I believe you should go into this graphic novel knowing very little, so I will keep my reviews very brief. All I will say is that I think this is a great way to start off the series and I can't wait to see what is going to happen next.

Locke & Key Volume 1: Welcome to Lovecraft HC (Locke & Key (Idw))
Locke & Key, Vol. 1: Welcome to Lovecraft - Joe Hill,Gabriel Rodríguez Author & IllustratorJoseph Hillstrom King (born 1972) is an American writer of fiction, writing under the pen name of Joe Hill.Hill's first book, the limited edition collection 20th Century Ghosts published in 2005 by PS Publishing), showcases fourteen of his short stories and won the Bram Stoker Award for Best Fiction Collection, together with the British Fantasy Award for Best Collection and Best Short Story for "Best New Horror".Joe Hill is the second son of authors Stephen and Tabitha King. He is married an has three children.Born in Santiago the illustrator of Locke & Key, Gabriel Rodriguez Pérez worked as an architect and started his career with illustrations for card games.ReviewThis was the first time I picked up a serious graphic novel. I did read some comics but never something bigger than 24 pages. I was pleasantly surprised by the book. I love ghost house stories and this was a very nice ghost house. The story begins a bit weird. The first text does not make sense cause you miss out on details. Soon they become clearer though and you manage to understand those first pages better. I very much liked the way the authors portrayed the struggle of the characters when they had to "go on" with their lives. With the characters in the story I had more of a struggle. Some where easy to connect to or to hate like Bode and Sam. The others though at points significant did not always impress me enough. I had a hard time getting a grip on Tyler.Still I really enjoyed my first try and am for sure getting the next in this series cause I am curious about the rest of the keys, doors and ghosts.

Locke & Key Volume 1: Welcome to Lovecraft HC (Locke & Key (Idw))
Locke & Key, Vol. 1: Welcome to Lovecraft - Joe Hill,Gabriel Rodríguez I downloaded this e-book because I love Joe Hill's novels. This is not why you should want to read this graphic novel... it's nothing like Horns or Heart Shaped Box, so it's not advised to begin reading this with that assumption. The artwork was great, but incredibly shocking and explicit. The storyline was interesting, but creepy and disconcerting. Unfortunately, it didn't end up being my cup of tea and was just a bit too twisted and messed up for my taste.

Locke & Key, Vol. 1: Welcome to Lovecraft - Joe Hill,Gabriel Rodríguez Creepy! I wasn't quite sure what to expect from a graphic novel by Joe Hill, but I liked this. It suffers a bit in the beginning from awkward plotting and confusing introduction of characters (plus, talk about your cliched and corny names), but it evens out as it goes on, standing as a creepy and solid introduction to the series. I'm looking forward to more.
