Lord of Darkness
Lord of Darkness - Elizabeth Hoyt

After the previous book, I was worried about potentially this being not as good. I needn't have worried! This is Meg's (Margaret) and Godric's book. At the end of the previous book, Megs is pregnant. Her brother, Griffin, knows something about Godric and blackmails him into marrying Megs. This book opens up 2 years after their marriage.
Margaret, having lost the baby, wants a baby and to avenge Roger. I loved the book's opening with her trying to shoot Godric (unbeknownst to her). This was definitely a slow burn as they both got to slowly know the other one. I thought the guilt each felt for wanting to move on was realistic and was something each overcame. I liked that they talked about their pasts and feelings. I liked that Godric and his stepmom talked. (What an awesome stepmom!).
One thing I like are the appearances of previous (and future) characters. Artemis is in this one and her book is next (and I'm very curious; there's also her brother Apollo).

Previous book: Margaret (Griffin's sister) was in love with and pregnant by Roger Fraser-Burnsby. He's murdered. Presumably by Ghost of St Giles.
This book: Earl Kershaw-> murdered RF-B, and killed by Godric in self-defense, was also responsible for abuse and enslavement of the poor girls- Seymour (killed in from previous book was his partner (I assume).
And yes, Megs gets her baby.
Godric's 1/2 sisters- Sarah, Charlotte, Jane. His stepmom- if she had a name, I missed it/don't remember it.
Captain Trevillion lets Godric go. He suspected Godric was the GoSG.
I don't know if they will be characters in future books: Hippolyta Royle- an heiress that has taken London by storm. Robin Goodfellow- an actress at Harte's Folly.

Alf was one of the people hired by the "Lassie Snatcher's" before she broke rank and helped Godric.  She's disguised as a boy.

Lord of Darkness
Lord of Darkness - Elizabeth Hoyt Move over, Mickey. I just got to know Godric, and then, you know, love him...(Who am I kidding, I couldn't choose)

I'd read like 5 books about these two. I loved Megs vitality, and the way she brought her husband back to life. I loved Godric's composure, his intensity, and his tenderness.

A wonderful, lovely, sweet journey into the relationship of these two.

I was equally impressed that the cast of characters didn't seem to distract from the main couple, and the world-building was so solid & strong in this book. I wasn't annoyed by the disruption of seeing the prior couples, it enriched and advanced the story quite well. This is rarely the case for series romances for me.

Lord of Darkness-BK 5, Elizabeth Hoyt
Lord of Darkness - Elizabeth Hoyt

I really enjoyed this Historical Romance. I received this book for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. This is not suitable for the under 18 readers. There was a lot of action and danger in this with a splash of romance here and there. There was humor and animals as well. It was so hard to put down so I lost a little sleep, but it was worth it. I've given it a 4.5* rating and look forward to the next in this Maiden Lane series.

"Lord of Darkness" by Elizabeth Hoyt
Lord of Darkness - Elizabeth Hoyt

Kinda boring and forgettable. 2 years ago, Megs married Godric for convenience after learning she was pregnant with her dead lover's kid, but Megs lost the baby, and they've lived separately since. Now Megs wants a child and reasonably believes her lawfully wedded husband is the best man for the job. I liked that the main characters had both loved and lost before and so were gun shy about getting emotionally involved (a nice counterpoint to the Insta-love that is so prominent elsewhere), but I found my attention wandering throughout the book.Time to take a break from historicals!

Lord of Darkness - Sherile Reilly Lord of Darkness - Sherile Reilly I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.

Victoria heads off to go to a friend of her fathers that wrote in a later that if every he or his family needs a place to stay that they could come to him. Once there Victoria finds that the man is dead and only his son is there. Alexander Winslow is surprised to have this women come to his house late and night. Alexander reads the letters that she has and knows that he needs to help her but he has his own issue/secret that calls to him each night a midnight. I ended up reading this in one sitting!
