NATURAL LUST by Sara Brookes
Natural Lust - Sara Brookes

In Hard as Stone Garrett has been watching over Brady, an ER doctor. One night Brady loses a 5-year-old and cannot accept he cannot save everyone. He runs from the ER going to a building that calms him a few blocks away. Garrett, the building's owner, sees Brady staring at his building and goes out to talk to him. They talk about the gargoyles around the top of the building and Garrett issues an invite to Brady to come see them some time. A few days later Brady accepts the invite and goes to the penthouse. Garrett saves him from falling and they spend a sexy night together. Will they have a relationship or is it only a one-night-stand?

I enjoyed this story. I liked the practicality of Garrett and his desire to help Brady. Brady has to learn some truths about his life and about Garrett before they are able to move forward. I liked Brady's desire to help everyone. Some he cannot help but others he can which he does in the ER. While there are secondary characters they are only there to move the story along. The story focuses on Brady and Garrett. They are a good couple.

In Chasing Sin Kate, Tripp, and Snyder are storm chasers. Kate takes a lot of chances while chasing tornadoes. She puts them all in danger on one chase. She's mad when Snyder rescues her before the tornado touches down. Their anger changes when they get back to the hotel where the three share a hot night followed by Kate leaving. They meet up again during hurricane season as they track Hurricane Jean which changes course as Kate had predicted. Now they are caught up in one of the worst storms every. Will they survive? Will Kate finally accept the love of Tripp and Snyder?

I liked this story. Kate was stubborn but so was Snyder. She has a hard time trusting her feelings for the men. They can accept her as she is. Secrets come out and Kate has to decide if she can accept their love. That will only happen if they survive the hurricane in her childhood summer home. When that hurricane hit I was scared for them. I hoped all would work out for them.

The Herb Book
The Herb Book: The Complete and Authoritative Guide to More Than 500 Herbs - John B. Lust,Ralph Pereida

by John Lust

I have an old copy of this book that I've had for years and would never let go of, not matter how many times I moved and thinned out my books. This is a re-release and I'm really happy to see it back in print.

The book has some interesting information about herbs and history, especially medicinal uses of herbs. There is a little basic botanical information that anyone can follow and instructions on how to gather and dry herbs as well as information on growing your own herb garden and how to store them properly.

Commercial sources for buying herbs are given for various states in the U.S. Presumably these have been updated for the new version.

How to make infusions and decoctions is covered as well as extracts, juices, powders, syrups, tinctures, poultices and other forms of preparing medicinal forms in which herbs might be used.

The bulk of the book is encyclopaedic. There is a large section for looking up herbs that might be used for various medicinal purposes, for example if you want an analgesic or antibiotic property, you will be guided to pages which have herbs listed which contain these properties. From there, the user must read properly about all the qualities of the herb and use some common sense.

This is followed by a section on common complaints and which herbs might be useful for treating them.

Part two of the book is the real treasure. It is an alphabetical list of herbs that gives detailed information about their properties, including any cautions required. This section rivals the classic Culpepper Herbal in complete information about pretty much any herb known to humankind.

There are line drawings to help to identify the herbs as well as detailed descriptions, Latin and common names, designation of parts of the plant to use, properties, preparations and dosages. This section is extensively indexed to make any herb you want to find information on easy to find, regardless of what name you know it by.

Part three goes into herbal mixtures for health and some information on vitamin nutrition and minerals, then talks about seasoning with herbs and herbal teas for enjoyment. It also suggests some natural herbal cosmetics for skin care and perfumes and even natural dyes. Some legend and lore is included.

The description of the book doesn't tell me if any of the information has been updated, but I suspect that it is very much the same as the first edition. Some information just doesn't get outdated. I have to give it 5 stars because this is still and will always be the one herb book which I feel is essential to always keep on my shelf and I particularly like the ease of use that it has always given me.

Lust Killer
Lust Killer - Ann Rule

Not too much to say about this besides it's disturbing to get into the head of convicted serial killer Jerome Brudos. I think that the Mindhunter series included him in season 1. Shudder.

"Lust Killer" follows Brudos who murdered several women and had the state of Oregon in a panic in the late 60s. Rule wrote this as Andy Stack, but it still reads as Rule to me. She starts with the murder of one victim, and then works backwards into Brudos' life and hatred of his mother. And surprisingly we find out that he gets married and even has children while still kidnapping women, raping them, and murdering them.

Rule then goes into the lives of the detectives on the hunt for him, we get into more details of the victims, and then of course how Brudos is captured.

What surprised me and what I didn't know is that a neighbor of Brudos wife lied on her (she did lie) and said she was helping him abduct women. The poor woman had to go on trial and defend herself. I liked how Rule gives this woman (living under a different name at the time of the book's publication in 1981) a voice in this book. She was young and naive and wanted to get away from her dominant father, and then married an equally dominant man who she didn't understand, but did scare her.

There are some photos included of Brudos, the detectives, and victims.

REVIEW BY MERISSA - Petrus (Fueled By Lust #12) by Celeste Prater
Petrus (Fueled By Lust #12) - Celeste Prater

@Celeste_Prater, #Menage_a_Quatre, #ScienceFiction, #Romance, #MFMM, with #BDSM elements, 4 out of 5 (very good)

Petrus is the twelfth book in the Fueled by Lust series, and I would certainly recommend you read them in order. Not only will that give you a better understanding of the overall story arc, but you will get to meet the characters in greater detail, helping you to know them more.

Petrus was one of the unfortunate Insedi who had a faulty necklace. This meant that when he kissed Ireland for the first time, nothing happened, much to his distress. Ireland, of course, knows nothing about the Insedi or necklaces, so she wondered what the hell was going on. To try and protect her, Petrus was cruel to be kind, which then backfired when he found out about the faulty necklaces. So now he has to try and coax her back to him.

I love this series, I really do. I have loved each and every one of the Insedi warriors, and this book is no different in that regard. What I didn't love as much were the other men in this. I can sort of understand Ludo, especially once you learn of the near-miss between him and Ireland, although I much preferred Makar and Baruch because they were already a 'couple' (so to speak). It was Damon who didn't do it for me though. I loved how it was written with a human being included into a triad but I would have loved more from him during the book. He was there at the beginning, bam, I love you's to Ireland, but then he disappears until near the end. One evening (or so it seemed) and he's into the triad, now quadrat! And then throw in the BDSM elements that Petrus and Ludo are happy for him to take the lead on... I don't know. It just didn't feel right to me, and I pains me to write that!

There were no errors in this book that disrupted my reading, and I found myself to be just as lost within the Insedi world as ever. It just didn't move in the same way as the previous books have. And Cato is still hands-down my favourite!!!

Would I recommend this book? Absolutely! Because it is part of an amazing world full of interesting and intriguing characters. It isn't just the warriors who will delight you, but their partners too. Trust me, the women are just as badass in their own ways, and Makenna and Ireland's quips and witticisms to each other were fantastic to read. So yes, I recommend it. Just start from the beginning and you will love the Insedi just as much as I do!

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Lust-The Elite Seven Series
Lust - Ker Dukey

Rhett Masters is high school royalty, wealthy, good-looking and a star football player. Rhett has a new girl every day and plans to go to school on a football scholarship. After a family tragedy that Rhett believes is his fault, his life spirals downhill and causes him to loose his chance at a football scholarship. Rhett changes his focus to becoming one the Elite, a secret society in New Orleans that recruits seven members a year. The Elite will pave the way for Rhett's future, but getting in will come at a price. The task that the Elite give Rhett seems simple for a guy like him, but once Rhett learns more about the the woman he has to target, he has to choose her reputation over his dream.

From the absolutely heart-wrenching opening of Lust, I knew I was hooked. I really liked the idea of the secret society, The Elite and how they were based on evil and sin. Rhett seemed like he was going to be the stereotypical good-looking bad boy, however, his motivations were much deeper. From the beginning, I could tell that Rhett had much deeper emotional motivations than her ever showed on the surface. Rhett's initiation into the Elite was intense, but predictable. Although, Rhett and Chastity did make a really cute couple and the heat and dirtiness factor ramped up when their relationship took off. I can't wait to go deeper into the stories of the other seven member, especially Rhett's friend, God.

This book was received for free in return for an honest review.
