Barnes and Noble's Readouts -- Nook Friday Freebie (also free for kindle)
Whom the Gods Love (Of Gods & Mortals) - M.M. Perry

Download free (at least today, likely at least this weekend) from Barnes and Noble or from Amazon.com .  Another not traditionally published offering.*

Book synopsis says:  "When Cass draws her blade, nothing can stop her. Except maybe a god.

Cass is eager to help when she is called. Gunnarr is eager to help Cass. When he suggests they go on a mission together, she's pleased the big man noticed her.

Unfortunately, the gods have taken notice as well, and that spells trouble for them both.

Tasked with a noble entreaty, Cass and Gunnarr set out with a group of friends on a harrowing adventure. It will take more than harpies, giant spiders and ogres to stop them from getting the job done, but the gods are far more dangerous than any of their creations. Certain death lurks at the end of this quest.

As Cass and Gunnarr close in on their goal, and to each other, it becomes clear a terrible choice must be made. Cass must decide what's more important to her, the love of a good man, or the life she's trying to save. Can she escape her fate?"

* By "not traditionally published," I'm not meaning that negatively or positively.  It's just that many of those often go free anyway where it's becoming disappointing how seldom now the nook freebies are "exclusive" freebies of traditionally published books -- "exclusive" at least until price matched on other sites. Takes away the excitement I used to have on Fridays just like the monthly Kindle Firsts are not as exciting since becoming all Amazon published arcs.

Kindle Firsts for June 2017 (free ARC from Amazon Imprints)
The Man of Legends - Kenneth Johnson
Soho Dead (The Soho Series Book 1) - Greg Keen
Stillhouse Lake - Rachel Caine
Wives of War - Soraya M. Lane
The Man Who Could Be King: A Novel - John Ripin Miller
Lost in Arcadia: A Novel - Sean Gandert

Amazon prime members get to choose one of these free and ahead of their publication date.  As has been true all of this year and last year, every choice has been published under an Amazon imprint.

For myself, nothing appeals (not even the dystopian that I can easily see happening -- ugh -- the description on product page is just quoted praises if you don't click to see more).

So for June, I've downloaded "none of the above."

"Violet Abyss" by Suzanne M. Sabol

My Thoughts...

'Violet Abyss' was the seventh in the series:  A Blushing Death that will definitely present its title.

We find Dahlia Sabin has lived quite a 'lonely existence as a killer of the undead know as "The Blushing Death." This author gives the reader quite a interesting read as Dahlia  becomes very involved in the 'middle of  vampire conclave.'  What will happen when the 'vampire liege' comes to New Orleans?  This will be quite a interesting read however, I did find that the read will be so much more understood if you have read the other six in this series....Book one...A Pool of Crimson, Book 2 Midnight Ash, Book 3 Silver of Silver, Book 4 Golden Anidae, Book 5 Black Dalliances, Book 6 Emerald Fire and this one Book 7 A Blushing Death where the reader finds there will be a lots of action going on[in all of these series].  Will Dahlia, Patrick and Dean be able to get back this 'ancient relic of power' and save their friend Everett?  This read will show how  these three who were more than friends as they 'must use everything in their arsenal to turn the tide of revolution, and turning enemies into allies is more difficult and dangerous than any of them knew.'  Would I recommend 'Violet Abyss?'  Yes, but I would also recommend reading Books 1-6  before reading book 7 for a better understanding of what all  has all gone on earlier in this action packed story of humans, werewolves and vampires.

"The Janes" by B. M. Hardin

My Thoughts...

Now I will say this one is one of the most craziest, mystery, and suspenseful novel I have ever read...but it was GOOD! This author Ms. Hardin really knows how to keep ones attention and this one definitely did it for me. Wow, Jane, Jane, Jane...and that Blonde Jane... I think it was a total of 10 of them living on the same block! This story even though it was crazy was very captivating as I turned the pages looking to read more about Jane[s]. By the time I got to the end of 'The Janes'...more twisted Janes come out front and center that goes with that saying 'when something is too good to be true, more likely.. it is!' Will 'Blonde Jane' get hers?! What disappointed me more than anything about the read was the way the husband Brice treated his Jane...like she had no idea of what she was talking about but even more of a shocker was the best friend of Jane, Charity. Oh, well to truly understand it all you will have to pick up 'The Janes' to see how well they are presented to the reader. This is definitely one heck of a story I will not forget anytime soon. Thank you to the author for doing what you do so well and that is giving the reader a good read!
