Review for Book Tour that I am Involved in.
Frost (Midnight Ice) (Volume 1) - Kaitlyn Davis
Frost (Midnight Ice Book One)by Kaitlyn DavisGenre: YA Paranormal RomanceRelease date: January 26th 2017
Summary from Goodreads:
Even the hottest love can turn a girl cold-blooded…Life's tough for a vampire thief on the run—just ask Pandora Scott, she knows. Four years ago she ran away from home after everyone she loved betrayed her. But now her annoyingly grown up (and handsome) ex boyfriend is stalking her, begging her to return. A mysterious vamp with a particularly dangerous (and sexy) stare keeps popping unexpectedly into her life. The extremely powerful head vampire of New York is hunting her down because she may or may not have broken into his highly-secure, highly-secretive personal vault. And the fate she's been trying to outrun? Well, it's about to catch up. Because even a super-speedy vamp with the ability to disappear can't escape her own destiny.

My Review

I really thought the storyline was different than other ones dealing with vampires. I really loved the main character of Pandora, and I love her name.
I felt so bad for her in regards to something's she discovered throughout the book. I thought she had a lot of spunk, and that she was pretty bad-ass.
Jax who is her ex, and first love, I am not sure about at all. I don't know if his good, bad, or what. Hopefully things will become more clear in the next book.
The person I am really interested in is Sam, his not in the book much. But when he is, things get very interesting. I really hope he plays a bigger role in the next book. How the book ended, I am sure, that he will be in that one more. At least I hope he will.
When I first got the book and started reading it, at first I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get into the book. After about 25 to 30 pages, I know I was in for one hell of a ride. After that the action never stopped.
The ending of course ended in one hell of a cliffhanger, and I really can't wait to find out what happens next. And hoping for a lot of Sam in the next one.
I will leave you with an excerpt, of why I have a thing for Sam and why I want to know so much more about this very intriguing man.

Excerpt

All she wanted to do now was forget. Forget Jax, forget everything he'd stirred up, forget her birthday. So, she downed another bloody cocktail, this time O-negative. And another after that. She let the feeding frenzy take over, let the high of fresh life wash through her.
She drank.
And danced.
And lost herself in the blood and the music and the touch of other cold bodies just like hers, searching for that little spark of life, reveling in it.
"You look good enough to eat," a sultry voice whispered in her ear.
Pandora whipped around lightning fast, flashing her fangs. "I bite."
The man smiled, lips practically dripping with sin. "Me too."
Normally, this was when she'd punch and run. Seduction wasn't really her thing. It just made her think of another boy and another time she'd never get back. But tonight was different. Tonight she wanted to be free. Tonight she was determined to move on, to move forward.
So she grinned back, taking the stranger in. And really, a girl could do worse, much worse. He was tall, broad, with bright golden hair that seemed almost aflame in the darkness of the club. His vampire-blue eyes were just as bright as hers, flashing with unabashed hunger, brazen want. His skin, though, was what really caught her eye. It was sun-kissed and bronzed, not pallid, not washed out by his ebony shirt. Somehow he looked almost warm to the touch.
Before she could stop herself, Pandora lifted her fingers, stretching for the triangle of hard skin at the base of his throat, exposed between two sets of open buttons.
He stepped swiftly to the side.
The darkness seemed to follow, wisps of ebony clinging to his frame, undulating with his every movement.
"Not yet," he murmured, never once taking his eyes off her.
The longer he held her gaze, the more familiar it seemed to become, as though she'd seen those eyes before, as though this wasn't the first time they had caressed her body.
"Have we met?" she asked.
His smile deepened, filling with secrets she could tell he had no intention of spilling. "Not like this."
"Like what then?"
But he looked away without answering, sweeping his stare down to her lips, to every inch of exposed skin, lifting back to her throat, pausing there. She didn't move. There was a dangerous sort of confidence about him, but against her will, she found it alluring, intriguing in a forbidden way. She'd always been drawn to things she wasn't supposed to have. Usually, she took them anyway.
She reached out again, trying to touch him.
He moved deftly away, almost made of air as he circled behind her.
"Pandora," he whispered into her ear, breath like a kiss against the soft skin of her neck, making her shiver.
And then the word he spoke registered.
Her name.
He knew her name.
"How…?" She spun around, trailing off when she realized there was nothing there, no one there.
A ghostly finger brushed against her elbow, tracing a burning path up her arm. "You're not the only one who knows how to disappear."
Pandora spun again.
But he was gone.

Midnight Frost
Midnight Frost - Jennifer Estep I was so glad to get back to reading a new book in one of my favorite series.

So, in this installment of the Mythos Academy series, (not surprisingly), Gwen is almost killed...AGAIN! This time someone attempted to poison her...but no such luck (for the reapers, that is). Instead, someone close to Gwen is poisoned in her place. Now Gwen must save this someone before it's too late by going out to find an antidote in a very dangerous place. There was so much action and awesome fighting scenes!

I honestly loved everything about this book! The voice of the story I absolutely love! Vic and Nyx...what a pair! They are SO cute! And Vic makes me laugh every time he opens his mouth. Another couple that is cute: Alexei and Oliver.

And the twists and turns you don't see coming? Awesome! There's this new character we meet, Rory. She is very intriguing and I kept wondering what her deal was because, seriously? Rude much? Anyway, prepare to be shocked!

And Gwen is so sassy sometimes, I love it! She doesn't take crap from anyone, and she is very loyal to her friends! And the thing with the Gryphons...whoa!

This book was just perfect from start to finish and I cannot wait to read what the reapers have in store next for Gwen and her friends!

Midnight Frost
Midnight Frost - Jennifer Estep

This one was different from the rest: there was no major Reaper attack in the library. Yes, there was a little incident but it was with the journey to Denver that we had our run in with the Reapers and Gwen and friends kicked their arses (as usual).

I can't help wondering if book 6 is the last book in the series or not? On to it soon, anyway.

Midnight Frost - Jennifer Estep

Well the plot's definitely different in this one; no major Reaper attack in the library. We're off to Denver instead :)

Midnight Frost
Midnight Frost - Jennifer Estep 3.5 Stars

Check this review out at our blog!

f there was one song that Midnight Frost could be compared to, it have to be that classic marching band song "Pomp and Circumstance". It's a fantastic arrangement that is enjoyable to hear, but is overplayed and used too often at graduations. Similarly, Midnight Frost is an exciting continuation of the Mythos Academy series, but is also disappointment with its surprisingly clichéd plot and pathetic caricatures of once spectacular characters.

We begin the fifth installment of the Mythos Academy series with Gwen and the academy affected by the betrayal of several characters and the attack from the Reapers. Gwen is still suffering from her fight against Logan and Logan's inner battle against Loki. When Nickamedes is poisoned by the Reapers who intended to poison Gwen, Gwen and the gang race against time to find the antidote. Despite knowing that it is a Reaper trap, Gwen can't back down and takes on this daunting task that comes with even more secrets revealed.

Honestly, Midnight Frost is a solid read. The action moments are great, the emotional moments are bittersweet, and the story isn't terrible. However, there is nothing that really sets the story apart from any other fantasy or paranormal book out there. Every possible stereotype out there is being used in this installment, such as the New Moon Edward-less plot device and the helping animals for help in the future plot device. This caused the book to be less melodramatic and heart-pumping. This series is amazing for having some plot twists that I never saw coming, but Midnight Frost was so predictable and bland.

When compared to the rest of the series, this book also had some pitfalls when it came to continuing to flesh out the characters. Gwen is all mopey over Logan's departure from Mythos Academy, which is completely understandable but still kind of annoying. We don't see the real Gwen appear until the book is almost over.

Although it does make more sense according to the conventional rules of book writing to have a noble idiot character (character who abandons lover for some dumb reason) come back in the end. It is much easier to sort things out that way. If you haven't figured out, it's because Logan doesn't come around until the end. Annoyingly, his reappearance is supposedly all dramatic, but it's really lame. Haven't we already seen this kind of stuff before?

Other than the disappointing plot and characters, Mythos Academy is a decent sequel to Crimson Frost. It was enjoyable and I flipped through the pages (or tapped my Kindle really quickly) extremely fast. Still, there was that voice in my head going "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!" throughout the book. Hopefully the next book in the series will be able to surpass Midnight Frost and the rest of Mythos Academy series.
