24 Festive Tasks: Apologies

... for the somewhat uncoordinated way in which we posted the December holidays.

Synching the posting of the final eight holidays didn't work quite as we'd hoped, and what is worse, when we agreed to post the final eight holidays on December 1, with another three doors scheduled to be opened on their actual days, we didn't take into account that the posts for the final holidays, as formatted, would also reveal the tasks for those three technically "regular" holidays.  Since this literally only occurred to us yesterday, there was nothing for it but to post all of the December holidays at the beginning of the month ... with all of the added variance produced by the fact that we're posting from three different continents, with, all told, a 20-hour time difference between the four of us.

To find the proper order of all holidays and tasks, please take a look at the post for Epiphany (Twelfth Night), which MbD posted yesterday.

I will also complete the list of the holidays in this year's festive calendar that I posted in the bingo group at the beginning of the game.

We hope you're still going to have fun with the Festive Tasks game in December!

Mortified: Real Words. Real People. Real Pathetic.
Mortified - David Nadelberg,Neil Katcher,Krista Lanphear The live show is pretty funny and I now realize that without the original author reading their dairy entries aloud to me, with all the teen drama they can muster, these entries are sad, mean and boring.

Mortified - David Nadelberg,Neil Katcher,Krista Lanphear This book brightened my day. A lot. I enjoyed this peek into teenagers' lives. Kids are so funny, even when they're embarassing themselves, or wallowing in their own desperate thoughts. Reading it made me think of the stuff I wrote when I was a kid, and cringe to think of it in book format - but I appreciate the authors of these various pieces for sharing their own.

Two things, though - I disliked that all of the contributors seem to be in show business and would have preferred examples from people from all walks of life. (And maybe the information about what the contributors are doing now would have been better suited for entry just after their actual contribution.) Also, judging from the pop culture references, everything in the book was from about 1980-1994. Some wider variety would have been nice. Where's the embarassing teen diaries from 1938 and 1963? I'm sure adolescence hasn't changed that much.

Mortified: Love Is a Battlefield
Mortified 2: Love is a Battlefield - David Nadelberg,Anne Jensen,Annette Ferrara,Shay DeGrandis,Neil Katcher,Scott Lifton,Jenny Ruth Myers,Giulla Rozzi,Brandy Barber,Heather Van Atta This compilation of teenaged angst had its moments, but they were few and far between. More squirms than guffaws for me. I seem to prefer my adolescent agony fictionalized- it's way less dramatic that way. Oh my gawd, I could die when he looks at me... yeah, yeah, yeah.
