Reading progress update: I've read 40 out of 373 pages.
A Princess in Theory: Reluctant Royals - Alyssa Cole

I'm reading this for the Red Group's Orient Express crime scene card. Obsidian Blue correctly guessed it, so it's already a known crime scene. It works for the card because Prince Thabiso spends a lot of his time flying. In fact, when readers first meet him he's on a plane to New York.

I'm really enjoying this book so far. Naledi, aka Ledi, was bounced around in foster care and is currently a grad student who's juggling lab work with at least two jobs. I don't blame her at all for deleting those "you are betrothed to a prince" emails. Take a look at the ending of this one:

"...although I believe you to be the rightful recipient of this email, before I can introduce you to Prince Thabiso after this long absence, I will need more information. Please provide a scan of your license, passport, or other form of ID; your current address; social security number--" (3)

And they wonder why she didn't respond. I haven't seen much of Thabiso yet, but I liked his reaction to Ledi's one and only response to the emails.

Next up for the booklikes "Kill Your Darlings" Murder Mystery Game (Green Group)
Pursuit of Magic - Linsey Hall

I'll tie it to a specific card after today's guesses from green group have been answered.

It fits a lot of cards.  Green group currently has guesses of J.R.R. Tolkien for suspect and Killing Curse for weapon:

Cause of Death Guess Submitted (Green Group)

I just submitted a guess of Killing Curse.  Do I have to wait for Saturday to read another book for "Kill Your Darlings" murder mystery game?

Reading progress update: I've read 16 out of 198 pages.
The Master Key - Masako Togawa

I think this is where I stopped. So far we have two bodies, one crime, and a building about to be moved over a few feet while its inhabitants are still inside ("Trust us, you won't feel a thing, it'll be so smooth that you could have a glass of water in your room and not a drop would spill" haha, no, I'd totally go somewhere else while this was happening).

I'm a little confused about the timeline, but it looks like a woman in the building decided to take part in a kidnapping with her male partner. Because only women are allowed in the building, the guy pretended to be her female cousin. They kidnapped a half-American (or British?), half-Japanese boy and asked for ransom money, but something went wrong and the boy ended up dead. They buried his body in the building's basement and sealed everything up with cement. That was some time ago. At some later point (I think prior to the building move?), the male partner was run over and killed while dressed as his partner's female cousin, leading to much confusion on the part of the police.

The Master Key - Masako Togawa

I was going to stay up and get started a bit at midnight, but then a power outage happened and said "no you're not." Reading by flashlight isn't my thing, so instead of reading I just went to bed. Probably for the best.

Well, it looks like things changed a bit while I was sleeping - there are now different games going on. I'm in a group with Tannat, and we're reading for the Red Game. I've chosen to read The Master Key for Dark Alley Beat Down, one of the causes of death. The Master Key was originally published in 1962.
