Blind the Eyes is competing in Kindle Scout - Please Vote :)
Blind the Eyes - K.A. Wiggins

I have a YA dark fantasy debut coming out this summer and it's currently competing in Kindle Scout. If you go to https://kindlescout.amazon.com/p/E9IM6GHX3YIJ and nominate it and it wins, Amazon will send you a free preview copy before it releases to the general public!

So if you're at all interested in the book (or just want to help a newbie out!) please vote. :)

A little more on Kindle Scout:

  • Kindle Scout is the American Idol of publishing
  • Readers vote on pre-published books during a 30 day period
  • Editors read the manuscripts at the end of voting
  • Amazon publishes the best of the combined editor- and fan-approved books in ebook format
  • Amazon sends a free ebook to everyone who voted for (“nominated”) a book that gets published!

So if you want a chance to get a free copy of BTE, head on over to the Kindle Scout website, nominate it and hope it wins! And hey, why not vote for some other faves while you’re at it? You get up to three nominations at a time.

A little more about Blind the Eyes:

In a world where hope kills and dreams are deadly, obedience is the only way to survive. But when one girl learns her society's absolute control and guarantee of safety are both illusions, she risks her hard-won status, her home and her life to rebel and expose its lies.

A YA dark fantasy about identity, trauma & taking back your choices. Ghosts and world monsters in post-eco-disaster Vancouver.

From the back cover:

In the Towers of Refuge, regulation dictates every aspect of life.

Haunted 17-year-old Cole would do anything to shake her reputation as a failure. The only way to survive the nightmarish Mara is absolute obedience, and she's down to her last chance.

But when a charismatic stranger shows up claiming to know her and Cole discovers Refuge's absolute control and guarantee of safety are both illusions, she realizes hers isn't the only life at stake and goes on the run.

In the underground club Freedom, nothing's forbidden.

Cole needs allies to help her expose Refuge's lies and escape execution by nightmare. Too bad the only candidates are a hedonistic rebel, a childish ghost, a stylist with a secret and an imaginary friend with a talent for monster-hunting.

With enforcers in pursuit and the dead invading her dreams, Cole must figure out who to trust and stop the dying before the nightmares eat her alive.

Trusted authorities lie, allies have their own agendas, and even the monsters wear masks in this YA dark fantasy suitable for ages 14 and up. Ebook, audiobook and print editions coming in late spring 2018. Subscribe at https://kaie.space/newsletter for exclusive previews and extended content.

Blind the Eyes Limited Preview Edition: 3 Chapter Preview
Blind the Eyes Limited Preview Edition: 3 Chapter Preview - K.A. Wiggins So this is one of those obviously biased reviews, because hey, I'm the author so why wouldn't I kick things off with 5 stars?

And since it's embarrassing to gush about my own work (lol), instead I'm going to pop in a few remarks on why you should download this, read it, and follow me to get the full book when it comes out later this year. :)

1. It's free. And not that short. And pretty. And kinda pro. Oh, and it has an offer for a free extended preview ebook and audiobook inside, so that's a bonus.

2. It has ghosts. Since it's a preview, you'll only get to meet the first one, but trust me, there's more lurking around the next page.

3. You can say you discovered it before it got big. Like reading Harry Potter in the '90s. Except it's not Harry Potter. And there aren't any wizards. But there's magic, dreamwalkers, underground clubs, human sacrifices and dreams. Oh are there dreams. The kind you don't wake up from. The kind that eat you alive. But in the preview all you get is Cole trying to survive her job in the Tower. So, download and read this preview for some amusing dystopian teen angst... but remember. The dark fantasy is right around the corner. ;D

Mario of Thrones

Once upon a time an absolute genius decided that what the world really needed was a map of Game Of Thrones' Westeros recreated using the sprites from Super Mario World. NESteros was born (although strictly speaking it should be SNESteros).

Then, a further genius took the time to turn it into a cross stitch pattern and made it available for all the world to use.

Then I had A Moment.

Because it's 300-odd stitches by 600-odd stitches, I thought it would be best done on 28 count evenweave over 1 thread. Which is teeny - the stitched area is about 11 inches wide. And as it turns out, I vastly overestimated my ability to see things that small. It's going to look brilliant because the tiny stitches replicate the effect of the pixels, but it's also sending me blind.

What this picture doesn't show very well is all the slightly off-white stitches in the top bits (I am *never* stitching *anything* on white fabric *ever* again) nor the fact it's got a few discoloured patches because I keep sewing cat hair into it. However, I don't care because it's going to be epic. In at least 2 years time.

So, that's what I've been up to.

Hearts See Where Eyes Are Blind
Hearts See Where Eyes Are Blind - tessar... Hearts See Where Eyes Are Blind - tessarwyn 3.5 stars.

Harry is wounded, the Slytherins are decimated, and Snape is alive, and much different. Still snarky, but now funny and friendly with Harry? I did love him in this one though, nice to see another side of the man.

My big problems with this fic though were that some parts seemed skimmed over and rushed through, like Harry and Draco's falling for each other. Just seemed a bit fast, IMO.

Through These Eyes (Blind Faith, #2)
Through These Eyes (Blind Faith, #2) - N.R. Walker Sappy, soapy, angsty and I loved it! I wanted to smack Issac. I wanted Carter to grow bigger balls. Hannah, Mark & Carlos were great!
