My Thoughts

Some of the others who have read this book, have loved it. And yet, the reasons that they loved it so much more than the first two books, are the same reasons that I did not like as much as the first two books.  The biggest of those reason's being that it's darker than the first two stories.  Darker in a way that makes it physically painful to read at times.

Talia's story is sad and heartbreaking, and yet I didn't really feel like I connected to her as much as I wanted too.  Alexi is clearly broken too, and his story is heartbreaking, but made even more so by the treatment of his family or Vory as they're called.  I'm just not feeling this Vory…their code that they live by or whatever.  I don't think it's for me.

Tracy Marks has done excellently with the narration of this series…but this particular story, and I think it may be because of the Russian accent rather than the Irish accent, fell a little short of excellent for me.

Ten Thousand Words - Kelli Jean

♪♫My Pick For Book Theme Song♫♪

All In by Lifehouse  --These lyrics describe Oliver and how he feels after he screws things up in New York.

♫All night staring at the ceiling

counting for minutes I've been feeling this way

So far away and so alone

But you know it's alright

I came to my senses

Letting go of my defenses

There's no way I'm giving up this time

Yeah, you know I'm right here

I'm not losing you this time♫

My Thoughts

Overall, a stimulating story, that just suffered from one substantial issue; and one tiny issue.  My bigger issue was TOO MANY SEX SCENES…this is a pet peeve of mine, lately, with the New Adult Genre.  This story had so much going for it, an interesting premise with her being a writer and Ollie as the new cover model of her series.  I loved that…and the sub-plots are also very intriguing too.  I just don't get why she felt the need to add so many full on descriptive sex scenes, sometimes it's ok to leave some of the scenes details to our imaginations.  I'm not sure if I'll keep reading this series…I might…I'll just have to do a lot of skimming through the sexy stuff if need be.  My other issue is the excessive amounts of sappiness, especially from Oliver...actually, entirely from Oliver.

Ratings Breakdown

Plot:  3.5/5

Main Characters:  4.2/5

Secondary Characters: 4.8/5

The Feels:  3.7/5

Addictiveness:  3.8/5

Theme or Tone:  4.5/5

Flow (Writing Style):  4/5

Backdrop (World Building): 5/5

Originality:  4.8/5

Book Cover:  5/5

Ending:  4/5 Cliffhanger:  Not for Xanthe and Oliver.  The next stories are about different characters.

Will I continue this series?  Maybe so.  Like I mentioned there is some interesting subplots going on that I'm sure will get delved into more in future editions.

My Thoughts

Overall, my biggest issue was the Irish accent of the male narrator, I really don't like the way he drops the H sound, and it just comes out sounding like baby talk to me.  It just blows my whole image of Ronan, a guy who talks like a baby cannot be thought of as hot…

...this might be one of those books that I would have enjoyed more if I had read it instead of listened.  Trying not to let that influence my rating too much, I will say that this story is refreshingly funny, and well written.  Also, I found the heroines growth to be most inspiring.

Will I continue this series?  Idk??? I read a excerpt of this book on Goodreads and I could totally continue with this series as long as I read them in book format.

My Thoughts

This book…wow, I loved this book and I am desperately wanting to read book 2 and I think it's killing my chances of liking anything else (book wise), lately.  I just don't want to read it quite yet, because book 3 doesn't come out until November.   I'm trying space them out…

This is my first book by Wendy Higgins, and I have to say I loved her superb writing, I loved that we were able to know Amber and Rylen's back story, from when they were kids, up to the day that everything went to hell… and wow, it's an intense ride.  This reminded me of another similar series by Paige Weaver, her Promise Me Series.  I might like this series even more, though…I guess I'll have to wait and see…
