New Yorkers Short Stories (Oxford Bookworms Library)
New Yorkers Short Stories (Oxford Bookworms Library) - Diane Mowat Read this book for the first time a few years ago. Reread it again yesterday and still love it. O. Henry's stories give you vivid pictures of lives of New Yorkers. Some are rich, some are poor, some are happy, some are sad, some have found love, some are looking for love.

The only thing that I dislike is that it's kinda annoying to read in Stage 2, Oxford. Too many easy words take away the original feeling of the stories.

BookExpo America & BookCon 2015 here come BookLikes!

Ne York

When I’m in New York, I just want to walk down the street and feel this thing, like I’m in a movie. Ryan Adams

This week we are ditching our desks and fav coffee cups and going NYC!

From 27th until 31 May you will find our BookLikes team at Javits Center, exhibiting during this year’s BookExpo America, we are staying until the weekend for the BookCon, also taking place at the convention centre in New York.

Take this opportunity and come visit us, we are waiting at booth #3029

Not to worry, if you cannot be in New York to ask us a question in person, we are still going to be available to reach through the contact form for those of you needing our help. However, we have decided to put all the new releases on hold until we are all back in our BookLikes hub and brainstorm new exciting ideas. So, as for this Thursday, the theme is... NYC, baby!

The New Yorkers: A Novel
The New Yorkers: A Novel - Cathleen Schine Seriously boring and disappointing.

As opposed as it leads you to think, this is not a book about dogs. I wish.

It's a couple of parallel stories whose characters know each other and the only thing they have in common is that all of them happen to have a dog. The problem is, I didn't like any of the humans and they sometimes even annoyed me because they are selfish, stupid or wimpy, so I couldn't push myself to care for their problems and dramas.

A total failure in my case.

The New Yorkers
The New Yorkers: A Novel - Cathleen Schine People meet and fall in love via their dogs in this book of light fiction. Friends pointed me toward this book after I complained about the hours I’ve spent this summer with Al Qaeda and fundamental extremists and the poor of sub-Sahara Africa and the test-weary world of disadvantaged New Jersey schools. There is nothing that lingers in your bones after reading this book, nothing that leads you toward writing editorials to the Times. Simple little stories of relationships combined with the steady love of loyal dogs.
