We need more YA books about neuropsychiatric disorders
Jerk, California - Jonathan Friesen

I'll start out by saying that I can't really control my thoughts, I'm easily distracted and confused, and I'm still going through a lot of major personal stuff, but this book was HARD AS HELL to follow. Long scenes were summed up in a couple of sentences, the main character talked to himself constantly (although this might have been a symptom of his Tourette's), and characters came and went.

All in all, not a very enjoyable read, especially since the story took some bizarre turns near the end, but a promising premise and a decent book for teens who also have Tourette's (if not solely for the fact that you'd be hard pressed to find another YA book with a main character who has the affliction, and that he learned to live with himself and not feel like he was damaged).

Skip this one.
I Was a Teenage Fairy - Francesca Lia Block

Disappointing, with awkward prose and bad metaphors. Not one of Block's best works.

oh my god i can't stop crying

so i've been letting two stray cats come into my house everyday for a few hours to eat and have water, one of them (both girls btw) showed up so i gave her some food. i thought she was full because she didn't finish; she starts following me around the kitchen crying and i'm just like, 'stop being a glutten you have food right there, eat it!' but she keeps following me around meowing.

i made a hotdog and went into the room and she's looking up at it meowing-- occasionally lifting up on two legs to have both her fronts paws on top of the bed. so i give her some of my wiener. she does it again and i say the same thing that she has food 'right over there' and i lead her to it, but she will not eat.

a couple of minutes later, her sister shows up at the door meowing and i let her in

GUESS WHAT??

when the other cat i let in went to the unfinished food, the one following me started eating with her.

SHE WAS SAVING THE FOOD FOR HER AND HER SISTER I JUST
