DESCRIPTION:

Hapgood's tour de force is back in print! This riveting account of how earth's poles have flipped positions many times is the culmination of Hapgood's extensive research of Antarctica, ancient maps and the geological record. This amazing book discusses the various pole shifts in earth's history -- occurring when earth's crust slips in the inner core -- and gives evidence for each one. It also predicts future pole shifts: a planetary alignment will cause the next one on 5 May 2000! Packed with illustrations, this book is the reference other books on the subject cite over and over again. With millennium madness in full swing, this is just the book to generate even more excitement at the unknown possibilities.

REVIEW:

Easy to understand hypothesis of pole shifts, the effect of such a pole shift and the resulting evidence.  Interesting and definitely provides food for thought.

TANDEM DEMISE by Duffy Brown
Tandem Demise - Duffy Brown
A dock hand is found dead, again by Evie and Fiona, and now a wedding planner is found dead.  As the detecting goes it seems Nate is the prime suspect.  Now Evie has to protect Nate and find the killer.

I did figure out who did it this time.  I love these people--Nate, Evie, Fiona, Carmen, Angelo.  I cannot believe there is no more in this series.  I have so much fun and laugh out loud with these stories.  I am going to miss them and their wackiness.

BRAKING FOR BODIES by Duffy Brown
Braking for Bodies - Duffy Brown
Evie is helping to plan Rudy and Irma's wedding along with Nate but what can go wrong does.  From signing for the wrong wedding dress to losing the caterer to losing the venue, nothing is going right and then Evie trips over a dead body of Fiona's ex-boss outside the Grand Hotel.  With Fiona being the prime suspect, Evie must find out the real murderer.

This series is laugh-out-loud funny.  Not only is the wedding going downhill but a bunch of murder mystery fans think this is a week-end of murder games with a free weekend at the Grand Hotel for solving the murder.  They are a riot and Nate's patience is running out fast.  I love this group of people and look forward to the third book.

GEARED FOR THE GRAVE by Duffy Brown
Geared for the Grave - Duffy Brown
One of the funniest cozy mysteries I have read.  Evie comes to Makinac Island to help her boss' father who has broken his leg only to have him accused of murder.  Evie needs to find the murderer if she is ever going to get her promotion.

An island full of colorful characters with more added to them as the book goes along.  I loved Evie.  She may have found her place at Rudy's Rides.  She may also have found love.  She has certainly found a big "extended family" who are constantly warning her to stay out of their business.  When her real mother shows up even more hilarity ensues.  I did not see the ending that came.  I was shocked at the who and the why.  I'm looking forward to reading book 2 in this series.
