Review: Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan
Percy Jackson and the Olympians 5 Book Paperback Boxed Set (New Covers W/Poster)[PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS][Paperback] - RickRiordan

Goodreads summary:

Because the summary of the last book (Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian) will give you spoilers, I decided to give you all the links of my reviews of the previous books in this series. In my review of the first book you'll see a summary too. Here are all the links:

My opinion:

I like the conclusion to this series, but that's all I can see about my opinion. (If I could still rate in in comparison to the rest of my ratings of this series I would give the last book 3.5 stars). This series is just a series that you either love or just appreciate, and I ''just'' appreciate it. I admire Rick Riordan as an author and he has done an excellent job creating this world, especially with all the mythology in it, but it was sadly enough my cup of tea (anymore). I know it's middle grade and mostly I don't mind reading books when a character is much younger than me, but I honestly think that this series really is for middle grade readers (I know older reader love it too though, but sadly enough not me). The thing for me was that I just don't like fantasy stories that much anymore (which I already knew, but I still wanted to read it). I still recommend it to everyone who (still) likes to read fantasy and/or about mythology. I just wished I read it when I was a lot younger.

What is your opinion about this series?

The final showdown between Percy and Luke
The Last Olympian - Rick Riordan

The story is still a bit formulated, as the underdog fought their survival.

So Percy takes on risk and try to get a fighting chance.

The story progress with the not fighting with the full team as the in-fighting continued as if they are still teenagers. As the adults are tricked away to fight another great god/monster Typhoon, the real battle is now fall on the shoulders on inexperience teens.

The inconsistency on the details bothered me a little. Percy supposed to have healing power with water. So when Annabelle got injured, why not just heal her with that?

Anyway, the whole book feels like a teen movie on Disney channel. So the characters seems really smart and mature when it comes to fighting battle, and act like preteen idiots when it comes to romance.

Come on. Percy is supposed to be almost 16 now. In real life, he would have at least taste beer, and have sexual experience already. So why make him blush over a kiss? He should have act much like he is new at this, but watched enough porn to know what to do.

Anyway, still a nice enough story so far.

4 stars.

Reading progress update: I've read 40%.
The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1) 1st (first) Edition by Riordan, Rick published by Disney-Hyperion (2006) - Rich Riordan

I'm sorry to say, but I'm afraid this is a DNF. It's been just okay and I've been too spoiled by great books lately to settle for that. Apologies Bloggeretterized, but there'll be no review. Don't let me put you off reading it though, because it is very well written, with great characterisation. I'm just in a crappy mood at the moment, and nothing can please me!

Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian
The Last Olympian - Rick Riordan

A worthy, fast-paced ending to the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series! This book was filled with intense action like few other books you've ever read, yet kept its focus throughout the whole thing.

I want to keep this spoiler free so I can't say much about the plot of the book, but trust me on this; Riordan did a good job on it! I'm amazed at how many interactions and conversations between different characters and elements there are, and how diverse and non-forced they felt. No, truly well written is what this was.

I sat on the edge of my chair thoughout the whole read, hardly ever being able to relax. I switched between laughing out loud and yelling for my favourite characters to do this or do that! It is such a good feeling being so engrossed in a book, so utterly at the mercy of the sway of the story.

Again; The Last Olympian was a dignified, well-sorted ending of the series. It had emphasis on all the important pars, yet with the promise of more to come. Well done, Rick Riordan!
