5 Star Coldest Fire
Coldest Fire - Juliette Cross

He is out for revenge against the demon prince Vladek, but to get into the prince’s impenetrable fortress, Uriel have to fight in the pits of the underworld. By helping the Archangel Uriel, Nadya can even the scales against her backstabbing sister and she will do whatever it takes to make her pay. Nadya helps Uriel combat his way to the arena at the castle in Russia, but she isn’t what she seems, as a matter of fact she may hold the key to his redemption…and to his heart.

What an awesome, earth shattering conclusion to the Dominion series! Uriel and Nadya are two bold, striking characters that easily capture the attention of their audience which consists not only of the readers but also the bad guys. The chemistry between them is made of strong, electrical and fiery current but the romance is quite sweet as these two wounded souls join together to achieve their goals. Lots of emotional turmoil flowing the pages along with the passion and romance which really brings these characters to life.

The fast paced plot is full of energy, suspense and excitement as they enact their plan to reach the arena, knowing that once they are there, things will not go as they expect. The danger builds the closer they get to their enemy and with a couple stunning twists the readers just have to hang on to every last word of this exhilarating, nail biting read.

5 Star Red Awakening
Red Awakening - Janet Elizabeth Henderson

The mission seemed simple enough even for an ex-army ranger out of his element by a century and should have been a walk in the park. Because Mace isn’t the only who breaks into the secure facility and the building is overrun with terrorists. Mace has to find a way out before he compromises himself and the entire Red Zone team to the enemy but there’s no leaving with the woman who inadvertently helped him get inside and she has no idea that she’s calling to the animal that’s been locked inside him for a century.

The second book in the ‘Red Zone’ series is action packed and full of extreme suspense that has readers holding their breath and while knuckling their books or ereaders. The characters are strong, vivid and believable which makes it easy for readers to become caught up in their story and the chemistry between the hero and heroine sizzles with enough electrical current to knock out all the power to the building they are in. The relationship however starts off on an exciting wrong foot and is full of feisty and heated arguments as they struggle to stay alive while denying their attraction.

The plot is fast paced, full of suspense and reminds readers of ‘Die Hard’ type movies where the action never stops and the readers can’t possibly find a moment to relax from the pulse pounding excitement. The author has certainly created a wonderfully different futuristic world and a creative paranormal being that is sorta shifter life but really isn’t which makes this a fascinating, feisty and entertaining must read book.

Book Tour & New Release Review! The Witchkin Murders (Magic Fall #1) Diana Pharaoh Francis!

Let's get this week started! Today I am visiting New Portland to discover how everyone is handling thier lives after Magic Fall! Enjoy and don't forget to enter the giveaway!

The Witchkin Murders
Magicfall Book 1
by Diana Pharaoh Francis
Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

Four years ago, my world—the world—exploded with wild magic. The cherry on top of that crap cake? The supernatural world declared war on humans, and my life went straight to hell.

I used to be a detective, and a damned good one. Then Magicfall happened, and I changed along with the world. I’m witchkin now—something more than human or not quite human, depending on your perspective. To survive, I’ve become a scavenger, searching abandoned houses and stores for the everyday luxuries in short supply—tampons and peanut butter. Oh, how the mighty have fallen, but anything’s better than risking my secret.

Except, old habits die hard. When I discover a murder scene screaming with signs of black magic ritual, I know my days of hiding are over. Any chance I had of escaping my past with my secret intact is gone. Solving the witchkin murders is going to be the hardest case of my life, and not just because every second will torture me with reminders of how much I miss my old life and my partner, who hates my guts for abandoning the department.

But it’s time to suck it up, because if I screw this up, Portland will be wiped out, and I’m not going to let that happen. Hold on to your butts, Portland. Justice is coming, and I don’t take prisoners.

The world exploded with wild magic and the supernatural world declared war on humans and Kayla life went straight to hell. She used to be a detective and now she’s witchkin and a scavenger trying to hide her secret. But any chance she had of escaping her past and keeping her secret disappears when she discovers a murder scene that screams whit signs of black magic ritual. She has to work with her old partner who hates her for abandoning the department and if she screws this up, Portland will be wiped out.

This new urban fantasy screams suspense and magic and while most of the story doesn’t have a lot of romance per say, it does hint at the possibility of a romantic feelings between Kayla and old partner Ray. The chemistry burns hot and heavy throughout the story as they clash, sending sparks flying in every direction. The relationship is chock full of emotional upheaval due to secrets that stem from what happened when magic fell. These two strong, bold characters along with strong supportive characters easily draw readers into their story as they struggle to come to terms with working together again and with how they really feel.

Readers can’t stop reading very fast paced and suspenseful story that is full of stunning twists that change everything in this post-apocalyptic world full of wild magic and monsters where the divide between humans and supernaturals is boiling over the top. Unique elements and a wonderfully descriptive futuristic setting makes it easy for readers to imagine so they really can’t help but this energetic and stunning read.

The Witchkin Murders is the 1st book in the Magic Fall

Four years ago, Magicfall happened: a gargantuan release of wild magic into the world. Everything changed. All the creatures of fairytale and myth came out of the woodwork. Enchanted forests sprouted and spread millions of acres. Never-dying tornadoes danced across plateaus. Mountains rose and fell. The world turned inside out and chaos ruled. Then the Witchwar began. An effort to exterminate humanity to give witchkin–magical creatures–back their world. Though many people died or were transformed by wild magic, in the end, the Witchwar failed. Cities continued to stand, and newly created technomages fought back with technomagic.

Now things have started to stabilize. There’s a tense peace between witches, witchkin, and humans.

Welcome to the new Portland. It used to be one of the weirdest cities in the world. Now it’s so much more so, and so much more dangerous and interesting.

I was raised on a cattle ranch in Northern California (outside a town called Lincoln which is now part of an enormous sprawl). I taught myself to ride a horse at the age of six, as no one had the time to teach me—they were all busy learning how to irrigate, how to cajole an angry bull into another field, how to pull a calf… Afraid of heights, and absolutely sure I was going to die, I managed to scramble up on the back of a very patient and lazy strawberry roan destrier, and plod off into the sunset.

Thereafter, I spent much of my early life on horseback, or so far buried into a book that the rest of the world ceased to exist (much to the annoyance of my family—it took several attempts to get my attention). We all had very specific jobs on the ranch and mine was horses and cattle—out rounding up at dawn. And since I rode bareback, my standing request was to wake me up 5 minutes before everyone else headed for the barn—time enough to dress and eat my Wheaties, and no sleep time wasted on saddling.

After high school, I attended college after college, racking up a BA and MA in creative writing and a Ph.D. in literature and theory. My very patient and supportive husband traipsed across the Midwest and back to Montana for me (though my husband insists that he’s been running and hiding and I just keep finding him), where I now teach at the University of Montana-Western. We also a son Q-ball, who in our humbly unbiased opinions, is the most wonderful son ever produced, and a daughter, Princess Caesar, who is the most wonderful daughter ever produced.

I have a fascination for the Victorians, weather, geology, horses, plants and mythology, I like spicy food, chocolate and cheesecake, and I have an odd sense of humor. (Or so I’ve been told. Often.) Incidentally, the Pharaoh is in fact my real name, and oddly enough, is of British origin.

Some of my current favorite sf/f writers are Ilona Andrews, Carol Berg, C.E. Murphy, Patty Briggs, Lynn Flewelling, Rachel Caine, David Coe, and Anne Bishop. The Witchkin Murders is the first book in her exciting new urban fantasy series—Magicfall.

New Release Review! Severed (Precinct One #1) Shona Husk!

Hello, Readers! Today, I am visiting a new sci-fi world by Shona Husk! Enjoy and don't forget to add the first book in the Precinct One series - Severed to your shelves!

Halle Ish, one of Velli’s elite police Arrows, is shot down during a Precinct One riot. Wounded and unable to fly, she tries to hide and avoid capture, knowing that if she is found by the razor gangs or Clipper Sect they will sever her wings. She needs to get out of Precinct One.

Avin Lent was once a promising medical student, but he started sniffing Mumble to beat the stress and is now the doctor to one of the biggest gangs in Precinct One—while not part of the Clipper Sect, they are just as dangerous. He knows he is only as useful as his next surgery and they would have no qualms about killing him. Only Jarro is keeping him safe.

Jarro Coblic is deep under cover and has been for a year. Immersed in the gang, he suspects his hands will never be clean again. When he finds the wounded Arrow, he knows he can’t turn her over even though everyone is looking for her. With his lover’s help, they hide her and heal her wing. All the while, falling for her. He prays Avin will not crumble and reveal their secret as Jarro tries to figure out a way to get them all out of Precinct One before the Sect and the gangs bring the full wrath of Velli on Precinct One. Tearing the place down can’t come soon enough, but there will be blood before the slate can be washed clean.

Wounded and able to fly, Halle Ish is an elite police arrow in enemy territory, knowing that if she is found by the gangs her wings will be severed. Avin Lenit was once a promising med student, but now he’s the doctor to one of the biggest gangs in Precinct One. He’s been deep under cover for over year, Jarro Cobli has to find a way to get them all out of Precinct One before the Sect and the gangs bring the full wrath of the Veilli on Precinct One.

The characters are strong, compelling and easily pull readers into their story as they try to survive in some grueling circumstances. The relationship between Avin and Jarro is well established, sweet and super-hot, but the relationship between the two men and Halle ups the chemistry level to explosive but the romance is slow growing due to trust issues and secrets which keeps the outcome of the ménage romance in suspense until the very end.

The plot is fast paced and while thrilling and full of excitement, it also is full of violence and drug use which makes the story a bit on the dark side adds a bit of dangerous appeal to readers. The author adds these dark elements to the story in a way that gets the point across without going into graphic details that could potentially be off-putting. Although, the story could have been a bit more informative in regards to the culture, the world is fascinating with some unique elements that have a kind of cross between a post-apocalyptic world and futuristic world and readers can’t help but become completely caught up its thrilling debut story.
