Royally Matched
Royally Matched - Emma Chase Book two

Book one was about Nicholas and Olivia, and I liked them, but book two is about Henry and Sarah and I liked them way better. Henry is the bad boy Prince. He was the spare while Nicholas was the heir. He never had to be serious knowing he'd never be king. But Nicholas changed that. Now Henry has to worry about laws, politicking, appearances, and future Kingship and heirs. He's met his match in Sarah, and his transition from bad boy to family man was a pleasure to read. I loved him best.

Royally Matched By Emma Chase 99 cents!
Royally Matched - Emma Chase

Some men are born responsible, some men have responsibility thrust upon them. Henry John Edgar Thomas Pembrook, Prince of Wessco, just got the motherlode of all responsibility dumped in his regal lap.

He’s not handling it well.

Hoping to help her grandson to rise to the occasion, Queen Lenora agrees to give him "space"—but while the Queen’s away, the Prince will play. After a chance meeting with an American television producer, Henry finally makes a decision all on his own:

Welcome to Matched: Royal Edition.

A reality TV dating game show featuring twenty of the world's most beautiful blue bloods gathered in the same castle. Only one will win the diamond tiara, only one will capture the handsome prince’s heart.

While Henry revels in the sexy, raunchy antics of the contestants as they fight, literally, for his affection, it’s the quiet, bespectacled girl in the corner—with the voice of an angel and a body that would tempt a saint—who catches his eye.

The more Henry gets to know Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum, the more enamored he becomes of her simple beauty, her strength, her kind spirit... and her naughty sense of humor.

But Rome wasn’t built in a day—and irresponsible royals aren’t reformed overnight.

As he endeavors to right his wrongs, old words take on whole new meanings for the dashing Prince. Words like, Duty, Honor and most of all—Love.

Royally Matched - Emma Chase 5 stars

[Willard to Henry]

"What do you think princess?"

I put the book down. "This isn't it. She'd want a book that's been read-dog eared and held and sighed over-not one that's been caged in glass its whole life. She'll want one that's been loved."

Ever so slowly, Willard smiles. "There's hope for you yet."

I love him.

Nopity Nope
Royally Matched - Emma Chase
I should have stopped while I was ahead.

This one magnified everything I didn't enjoy from the first. Our hero was such an immature I can't believe we're really calling him the hero, guy. He never did redeem himself for me. Because of the Bachelor like show he is involved with, more than half of his time is spent with other women. Even though this time isn't really focused on or seen, you're still aware of it. The time he does spend with the heroine (also, this happens over a span of 6weeks) is rushed and we're told they talk all night but don't get to read about the sharing.
My shy book loving heroine is more of a badly done facsimile of one. Her painful background also felt sloppily done; in fact this whole story felt sloppy.
Shallow characters and shallow story line, I know, I should have seen this coming with the synopsis.
Even though we don't get a glimpse of the couple I'm looking forward to in the third book, I'm still going to read it and hope it gives me some of the cheesy charm from the first. The hero gives me more hope as he has to be more mature than this one was.

*Rounded up because the hero searches out a first addition Sense and Sensibility for heroine (because he ruined her copy in an immature fit. Ugh.)

Royally Matched
Royally Matched - Emma Chase I realize I'm probably inflating this rating because I love the audio book - likely much more than I would the text. Shane East is <3 as a narrator. I did find Henry lovely and genuine and charming. He was a great match to Sarah. I bought their characters, and the drama was pretty low key and well done.
