Just Finished Reactions: Promise Me Tonight by Sara Lindsey
Promise Me Tonight - Sara Lindsey

There were times when reading this book that I literally laughed out loud. Sadly, these times did not outweigh the times I was sighing in exasperation.

The character's are not bad. They have potential, but they fit too well into types that I could read anywhere written better.

It's her first novel, so I may give her another chance once she has had some time to polish things up, but right now it was just repetitive, boring and not engaging.

It didn't help that my eBook was somehow missing most of chapter 21, but at that point I had given up the redemption of this book.

Too much misunderstanding, not enough sexual tension. But there were times when I laughed at loud.

I may try Miss Lindsey again in a couple of years.

A Rogue for All Seasons: Comforting but bad for the waistline
A Rogue for All Seasons - Sara Lindsey

** spoiler alert ** 2.5 stars

Beware of GIFs and spoilers!

I don't know why I keep going back to these books. While I may not particularly enjoy all of them, they're like a cup of hot cocoa and chocolate chip cookies on a frigid winter day. Comforting but bad for the waistline? I think I lost track of that simile ...

Promise Me Tonight: A Weston Novel
Promise Me Tonight - Sara Lindsey Eldest daughter of loving family is persistent about marrying her older bro's BFF who she's been in love with since childhood. She seduces him in his room while he was drunk even though he's told her repeatedly he doesn't ever want to marry or love anybody due to his view that those he loves will die. After he realized what happened, Hero marries heroine speedily then leaves her right after to join the Navy. Heroine later finds out she's pregnant & goes back & forth about loving him & being hurt & wanting nothing to do with him even when hero comes back after baby is born & now willing to take the risk & love her & their child.

The 1st half of Lindsey's book was well-paced, passionate, & riveting. Although heroine was aggressive & persistent, she was still endearing b/c of her motivations. But the book became a messy and annoying read in the latter half of the book. Heroine became whiny & weepy. Even towards the end when heroine had profound realizations, her actions still fell back to weepy & immature & whiny. I was really disappointed at the lack (or even regressive?) character development of the heroine. This book would've been a 5-star if the heroine acted better.

Cautiously recommended.

Tempting the Marquess: A Weston Novel - Sara Lindsey Even better than 'Promise Me Tonight'. A fun and enjoyable historical romp. Looking forward to Henry's story!

Tempting the Marquess: A Weston Novel - Sara Lindsey I loved this book! It took me longer to read it than usual, but I was busy with a lot of projects around the house this past week (it wasn't because I was forcing myself to finish it). This was a fun romance between one of the Weston siblings (Olivia) and her aunt's stepson (Jason...The "Marquess"). The Marquess is grieving the loss of his wife five years earlier and Olivia visits him (with her aunt...his stepmother) during Christmas with the intent of helping him overcome his mourning. She has found a diary belonging to his late wife and is intrigued by what she read in it. The supporting characters in the book are wonderful and I can't wait to read more about the Weston family. Sara Lindsey is a definitely an autobuy author for me now and I am anxiously looking forward to her next book.
