Review: "The Other Book" by Roe Horvat
The Other Book - Roe Horvat

I'm sad to say that this book left me a little disappointed. After all those rave reviews, I expected something… more. Something more steamy, more kinky, more filthy. I dunno.

I wouldn’t even call this book "erotica". In my opinion, this was simply a romance novella with just a lot of sex scenes. And to be honest, those sex scenes weren't even especially outstanding or unique. I've read many other books with much dirtier sex than here.

And as for the romance aspect, the relationship went WAY too fast from "I hate him!" to "I want him!" to "I love him!" for my taste. I also couldn’t really connect to the MCs since I barely got to know them in the beginning (some build-up in the first few chapters would have been nice). So when it came to the more emotional stuff in the last 25%, I simply didn't care at this point.

So I’m going with 3.5 stars. It wasn’t really the kinky fuck-fest that I was hoping for (#sadface), and for a romance it lacked exposition and character/relationship development for me.

But it was an ok read. Nothing more, but also nothing less.

~ 3.5 stars ~

Review: "Blaze" (Unbreakable Bonds, #5) by Jocelynn Drake & Rinda Elliott
Blaze - Rinda Elliott,Jocelynn Drake

For the first time in this series I had some minor issues regarding the story.

For example, I HATE it when a character doesn’t want any children and explicitly says so, and yet his partner tries to convince him otherwise. Some people/couples just really, truly don’t want any children and like it that way, authors.

I also wasn’t very enthusiastic about that storyline with Lucas’ sister Nicole. I found his strong reaction towards her a little weird and also out of character. I didn’t get why he still held such a huge grudge against her after all these years for something she said to him when she was 14 (!) years old and basically still a child.

But this is just small stuff. Because when this series shines, it shines. And it never shines brighter than when (any) two characters have a heart to heart (Lucas and Snow!). Those are the moments that make this series.

Oh, and that wedding of course. That was everything one could wish for.

Review: "Unbreakable Stories: Snow" (Unbreakable Bonds, #2.5) by Jocelynn Drake & Rinda Elliott
Unbreakable Stories: Snow - Rinda Elliott,Jocelynn Drake

I love all these follow-up collections of short stories for each couple. This one is about Snow and Jude from "Shatter".

I'm usually not a big fan of stories about a couple's everyday life after they got their HEA, but it is really lovely to see how smitten these alpha men are for each other and how they are continually working on their relationship.

But the highlight of each #1.5, #2.5, etc. collection in this series are those stories that involve all the four friends together, which was the "Camping" story in this one, and which alone deserves all the 5 stars.

~ 5 STARS ~

Review: "Bound Gods: Betrayed" (Bound Gods, #3) by Adrienne Wilder
Bound Gods: Betrayed - Adrienne Wilder

This was NOT a romance, not even in the broadest sense, but simply torture porn.

75% of this book was just torture scene after torture scene between a sadist, a pain slut and an idiot. None of it was even remotely arousing or sexy, but just cringeworthy and painful to read. I skimmed through most of it.

The rest consisted of boring dialogues, repetitive explanations, and a plot that hasn't really moved any forward since the last book. I really don't care about any of the characters enough to find out what's gonna happen to them, nor do I want to continue with this series.

And that's why I call it quits here.

Review: "Bound Gods: Chained" (Bound Gods, #2) by Adrienne Wilder
Bound Gods: Chained - Adrienne Wilder

Truly not for the faint of heart, and I really, REALLY hate everything about sounding *cringes and screams internally* and especially reading about it in excruciating detail. SO not my kink. And yet I can't stop reading this series.
