“I liked you as ‘Thoreau,’ but I love you as Andrew.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

I loved this series so much. It has been a while since I've enjoyed a series so thoroughly that when it was over I was so freaking sad. I liked Aubrey and I LOVED Andrew. I mean what is there not to love. Sure, he was a jackass many times but he was so damn sexy. I just want to marry his freaking dirty mouth. I was so happy with how Aubrey made Andrew work hard near the end. The steam throughout the series was freaking amazeballs! Seriously, it was scorching hot that I just couldn't get enough. The angst in this series definitely heightened my enjoyment of it. It wasn't too much or too little. The ending was so, so good. I just loved! It was sweet that I just melted. And I am so happy there was an extended epilogue that you can read online. I'm not lying when I say I was so sad to see this end. Which is why I just had to read it. Overall, this was really great. I will definitely be re-reading them.

“I wish I could take all your pain away...even though you think you've been permanently damaged. You have so much to give and you deserve so much in return. I just hope that eventually there might be some room left in your heart for me.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

This book is a bit different to what I usually like to read. This is why I was a bit hesitant to read it. But after a friend here on Goodreads recommended it to me and read a few reviews, I decided to give it a try.

Right off the bat, the prologue hooked me in. A man named Jack is seen running in the snow with his wife Caroline trying to get away from something. Caroline is wounded and it seems they are tiring fast. And whoever they are running from is only getting closer. The suspense of what was happening had me turning the page and not wanting to stop. From there on, the story was told alternating from past to present in Caroline's P.O.V.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“You see my humanity. And you accept me anyway. I feel like when you look at me you can see straight to my heart, bypassing all the messy details. You like me. I trust you. None of what I have matters to you nearly as much as who I truly am.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

In the past, we see how it is that Caroline met and fell in love with Jack. I really much loved watching Caroline's friendship to Jack grow into love. I loved it! I enjoyed the chemistry between them. I loved Jack and how he treated Caroline and her daughters. He was caring and hot. Caroline was a snarky intelligent woman and a very loving mother. I really liked her and I was very happy to see her slowly open up to Jack. They really were great together. Another thing I liked was that these characters acted like the adults that they were and never came across as childish or anything like that.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

He backhanded her a final time, and everything went black.
Caroline jerked at the memory. Fuck. This definitely wasn't purgatory.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

While I was drawn to the romantic story line, I won't lie, the whole political aspect didn't really do it for me. I've just never really enjoyed things involving politics so it was hard for me to follow their political jargon. These parts caused the books to become really slow for me so I did skim through it at times. However, I still managed to enjoy the story. The book picked up for me near the end that I became engrossed in what was happening between Jack and Caroline in the past, and what was happening with Caroline in the present. Then the ending happened...that freaking cliffhanger. I need to read the next book! Overall, this was a really good read. I didn't end up loving it but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy or like it, because I did. I can't wait to read the next one but I think I will wait for all the parts to be out before I do. I just can't deal with them cliffhangers.

THIRD DEBT by Pepper Winters
Third Debt - Pepper Winters

“Nila had my heart. But my father had my very existence.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

What. In. The. Ever. Loving. F*ck. Just. Happened!?!?! I am completely destroyed by this book. Holy hell!

If you read the previous book then you know the huge cliffhanger in which the last book ended. Nila has done what Jethro asked of her and has left without a backward glance. Jethro is utterly shattered and isn't able to cope with his emotions hitting him all at once. In this book, we finally get to learn so much about Jethro. With each book we seemed to be getting glimpses of who the real Jethro is. And that was thanks to Nila slowly breaking down his walls. Now we see him with his walls completely down and it was heart wrenching to read.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“We were both destroyed. And the only cure was to give in.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

So much happens in this book. Holy cow! Some things I didn't see coming. God, and that third debt. Kes is a character that I have loved cautiously. Because there were moments I had doubt that he could possibly be as evil as his family. But after what he did for Nila in this book, I love him a whole lot more. And Jethro, my poor Jethro. I hated seeing how much of a victim he is in all this as Nila. It was complete torture. To say my emotions were all over the place is a freaking understatement. I was hurtled around in a freaking roller coaster. I honestly don't know how Nila can remain so strong after everything that has happened. But, I hope that she remains that way after how this book ended.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"She was my salvation, my reason for existence, my queen."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

This book was crazy intense. I could not stop turning the page to find out what would happen next. It was so frustrating seeing Jethro turn back to his old ways. I was on the verge of hating him like Nila did. But after I finally got to understand him, I was so angry with his father Cut for causing so much pain to Jethro. After everything that happened, Nila and Jethro are definitely a lot more closer in all ways possible, and that was beautiful to see. I loved seeing the open and vulnerable side to Jethro. It melted my heart to finally know how he felt. But then that ending had to happen. It was freaking painful! Ugh, I am still reeling from it. I can not wait to see what happens next. I just hope it doesn't get any worse.

Review: Unveiled by Jodi Ellen Malpas
Unveiled - Jodi Ellen Malpas

♥♥♥ 4 STARS ♥♥♥

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“You are my soul, Olivia Taylor. You are my light. You are my reason to breathe. Don’t ever doubt that. Be mine for eternity, I beg you. Because I promise I am yours.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

If you read the previous book, you ended with another cliffhanger that had me going right into this book. Unveiled starts off with Miller and Livy trying to live happily together in New York. Livy doesn't accept what she saw in the airport and doesn't want to talk about it. She just wants to live in the happy bubble she is currently living in. Her bubble bursts when they get a call about her Nan that had her rushing back to London. Now they are back to the place the endangers them. Miller, with the help of William, works hard to try to protect Livy from any harm. They are also working hard at a solution that gets him out of their dark world.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“I love her. I love everything she stands for and I love how much she loves me. It’s more than any of you claim to love me! It’s pure and light. It’s made me feel. It’s made me want more. If any fucker tries to take her away from me, I’ll fucking kill them.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Oh, boy, did I get my questions answered or what? I think this was probably the best book of the series, well, to me anyway. I'm noticing a pattern with this series, though. It seems that all of the books start off slow, but sure enough, the last third of the book picks up and really grabs your attention. As was the case for the final book as well. The things that annoyed me about the last two book, were still present in this one. Such as the overuse of phrases, the frustrating things Livy did, and the few parts that seemed to drag on. However, I still managed to like this one better.

I loved that everything I wanted to know about Miller's history finally came to light, and it was heart breaking. I couldn't believe the things this man went through, it actually had me tearing up for him. I love how wholly he loves Livy, and the lengths he went to keep her safe. This sweet man melted my heart. Livy on the other hand, was still frustrating me. She has a bit of a temper and seemed to continue to blow up in a childish way during times that didn't really make sense. Like when Miller was protecting her. I wanted her to stand up for them, and she finally did. But it took a long freaking time. This when she started to turn around for me.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“I have a request. Never stop loving me.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

The ending of the book was crazy good. More revelations are made that I totally did not see coming. I was very happy with the conclusion these get. What stole the show for me was the epilogue. Oh, how I loved it! And it was in Miller's POV, too! It was so damn sweet, I couldn't keep the smile off my face. Overall, it was a really good read. I was very happy that I finally got to see Miller completely express his feelings for Livy. I enjoyed the secondary characters, but my favourite was definitely Nan. That epilogue, though, can't get over how cute it was.

One Night: Denied - Jodi Ellen Malpas

♥♥♥ 3.75 STARS ♥♥♥

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“We’re more broken if we don’t have each other. Let me put us back together again. I need you, Olivia. Desperately. You’re making my world light.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

This book picks up a few weeks after the first book ended. If you've read the first book you know about the big reveal that to be honest, I did not see coming. Livy made a choice and now she is trying to get over M, a.k.a. Miller Hart. But it seems that no matter what she does, she can't stop thinking about him. However, that doesn't stop her from trying her hardest to move on. Miller knows he needs to let her go, it would be better for the both of them. The attraction and love between them is consuming them, it's not something they can just push away. As a result, Miller relentlessly tries to get Livy back. He won't give up until she forgives him and allows him to love her again.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"I’m your someone. Everyone has a someone, and I’m yours, like you are mine."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

This book was really good and interesting. I loved that we finally learned more about the mysterious Miller. His history was quite heartbreaking and it helped me understand why he is the way he is, but I wasn't always happy with his decisions. There is still so much more to learn, though. I am waiting for him to fully express himself on what he feels for Livy. I know he cares deeply by his actions and sweet words, but I want more. That didn't mean I didn't fall for him less. This man is a moody jerk at times, but totally melted my heart as well. It was very entertaining watching Livy try to get him to relax and not be so uptight.

Livy in this book, got a bit on my nerves. Livy and Miller are both quite stubborn so it definitely clashes at times. I just didn't like how she came off in this book. She would at times act too immature and needy. I kind of wanted her to stand for herself during certain circumstances without the need of making a big scene. I also didn't care for some of the decisions she made as well. I did, however, love that she didn't let Miller slip through her fingers and kept fighting for him. And like I mentioned before, it was fun watching her try to make Miller loosen up.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

“We were made to fit together. We fit perfectly together. You must feel it, Olivia.”

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

And then there was the angst, and a lot of it. I actually don't mind angst, I love it in the books I read, but this was frustrating. I didn't expect things to keep going back and forth between them. I thought things would be more solid between them, but that was not the case. Because of this, some parts of the book seemed to drag on a tad bit. I also thought some words and phrases were repeated way too much. Around the last third of the book, thing became interesting again. Even though I didn't like some things, I did very much enjoy the rest of the book. I couldn't put it down wanting to know what would happen. Of course it led to another unexpected cliffhanger that made me want to jump right into the next one. Overall, it was a good read. The steam was really hot, just like the first book. There is still so much more to learn about the secrets that are kept hidden. I can't wait to see what will happen next.
