MANIACS WITH KNIVES: UNAPOLOGETIC HORROR FROM SHAUN HUPP
Maniacs with Knives: Unapologetic Horror - Shaun Hupp

To a regular person, they’re just tools. . .
A chef uses them to prepare a meal.
A surgeon uses them to save lives.
To the maniacs in this story, however. . .
Theirs is a much darker purpose.
For them, the first cut is NOT the deepest. It’s just the beginning. . .

This is Book 1 in the Maniacs with Knives Series, from #MichiganMadman Shaun Hupp’s Unapologetic Horror line.
The author is NOT sorry this book contains: Gore, violence, dismemberment, rape, swearing, and a dozen other things you wouldn’t want your grandmother to talk about at her Sunday church group. If you’re a sensitive reader, this book is probably NOT for you.

MEET YOUR MAIN MANIACS!

Jen & Troy – Jen’s parents are out of town, and she just wants to have a little fun with her boyfriend, Troy.  She hears noises and thinks that Troy, being the wonderful boyfriend that he is, has snuck inside while she was in the shower to fulfill one of her kinkier fantasies.  She finally finds him, but realizes that something is wrong when he turns around… Troy wouldn’t be wearing her dad’s face as a mask. Oh shit!

“Guys that wear other peoples faces don’t get scared.”

Kim & Rich have been married for 5 years. She loves him, and he beats her. But he always says he’s sorry, so it’s OK (I just rolled my eyes so hard I saw my brain).  The past couple of days have been especially bad, though – so Kim ruining tonight’s dinner was the straw that broke Rich’s back.  What happened next was just a simple accident – one that could have been avoided if they had any ketchup in the house.

Alex & Owen begin as strangers in a bar, drinking & telling stories. The tales get taller as they tend to do when alcohol is involved, so can we believe Owen when he confesses that he’s the infamous Bay River Slasher – the most prolific serial killer to never get caught? Probably, because the ‘Holy Shit’ moment comes when Alex finally tells Owen who HE really is.

Ben & Erin are my absolute favorite characters! ‘Ben’ – The Artist, and Erin – The Masterpiece.  ‘Ben’ has been reading too many books by Matt Shaw, and wants to be Art when he grows up. Erin just wants these things taken off of her face!

Each story continues as the book progresses, meshing together here and there, and proving to be one of my main sources of hilarity so far this year! ESPECIALLY ‘Ben’ & Erin’s parts. I have FIVE highlights showing where I busted out laughing, and exactly what I was thinking as I tried not to pee my pants.  I don’t want to spoil all the fun, so I’ll refrain from sharing all my twisted, and hilarious thoughts. Just promise me two things… check out my full review to enjoy the full effect, and when you’re reading this book and you get to Loc 1443, play a ‘BOING!’ sound effect. Then finish up and come back here so we can chat and giggle!

Peace, Love & Necrophilia ♥

Behind Closed Doors by Michael Bray, Matt Hickman, Shaun Hupp, Craig Saunders, Ian Woodhead, Andrew Lennon, Stuart Keane, Paul Flewitt and Matt Shaw.
Behind Closed Doors: Tales of murder, passion, suspense and horror! - Mr. E Jones,Shaun Hupp,Stuart Keane,Michael Bray,Matt Hickman graphickman@yahoo.com,Paul Flewitt,Andrew Lennon,Ian Woodhead,Craig Saunders,Matt Shaw

Behind Closed Doors is a short story anthology from some of the UK’s premier and up and coming horror writers.

Come and meet the residents of the Watch Tower apartment block, one of the most prestigious apartment blocks in the country and home to some of the most twisted, depraved people in this world. A den of immorality, wickedness and a body count that comes straight from the warped nightmares of Matt Shaw.

Stories by Michael Bray, Matt Hickman, Shaun Hupp, Craig Saunders, Ian Woodhead, Andrew Lennon, Stuart Keane, Paul Flewitt and Matt Shaw, with a kind of introduction and last words by Mr. E Jones.

There's one or two stutters along the way but Behind Closed Doors packs in more than its fair share of violently gruesome frivolities. With torture aplenty, brutal death, sharp implements, brutal death, gardeners, more brutal death, demons and to finish, a little bit more brutal death.

My favourite story has to be Apartment 3B with Resident: Connor Fox written by Stuart Keane. Connor phones his alcoholic wife whilst on business but he also has an apartment in the Watch Tower complex and Alice, who isn't his wife, is due any minute. This is a gripping tale of madness and guilt as the protagonist’s sanity constantly flips in terrifying perspectives. Closely followed by Paul Flewitt, Apartment 16c and demonic horticulture (don’t laugh).

Andrew Lennon writes a revenge tale of the cheated husband variety from Apartment 2B Residents: Mr & Mrs Murphy. Husband is a butcher and he's pretty handy with a cleaver, coupled with the cringing hobby of taxidermy.

Matt Hickman gives us Apartment 6A Resident: Lisa Harper, an attractive career woman who has been taking things to the extreme with drug and alcohol usage. Lisa gets a bit of a surprise when she stumbles in on boyfriend Daniel in a somewhat compromising position wearing a Rainbow mask (prepare yourself Zippy). She's gone downhill ever since and is currently engaged in a drunken one nighter with Michael, and another revelation is about to hit so to speak, with a large sex toy.

Final story comes from the man himself Matt Shaw with Apartment 8B Resident: Phil and its party time, with a slight difference, minutest details really with regard to the amount of beating pulses in residence. Read it you'll see.

Highly twisted and entertaining extreme horror shorts from an immensely talented ensembles.

Review: I Try My Best: A Mother's Tale by Shaun Hupp
I Try My Best: A Mother's Tale - Shaun Hupp

This is such a heartbreaking little story and totally not what I was expecting from a horror author. Packs one hell of a punch for so few pages.

Review: Car Nex: Trailer Park by Shaun Hupp, Terry M. West.
Car Nex: Trailer Park (The Car Nex Story Series Book 4) - Shaun Hupp,Terry M. West

I received a free copy of Car Nex: Trailer Park from the publisher in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this instalment in the Car Nex series, it was full of the carnage and violence that I have come to love about the Car Nex. I have to say that so far this one is my favourite, the author drew me in effortlessly and I was easily swept up in the atmosphere and fear in the pages. At just 58 pages it's a quick read but there is so much in those 58 pages, the way it's written makes it feel like a whole book is condensed into a short without the feeling of something being left out or lacking.
