A March Bride
A March Bride - Rachel Hauck

Susanna Truitt is an American who is engaged to King Nathaniel II of Brighton kingdom. She is afraid he has changed his mind about marrying her. However, he has been trying to keep the parliament from passing a law forcing Susanna from giving up her U.S. citizenship in order to marry him. He finally tells her once the law is ratified.
Susanna is upset. She has spent months learning about Nathaniel’s country and its culture. She decides to go back to Georgia to think. She doesn’t want to give up that last part of herself. After a while, Nathaniel goes after her.
I liked this story. I liked that Nathaniel was trying to help her keep her citizenship, and was will to give up the kingdom for her. I felt bad for Susanna, who had to change everything about herself to get his country to accept her.
I got this novella from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A February Bride
A February Bride - Betsy St. Amant

Allie Andrews leaves Marcus at the altar, even though she really does love him and want to marry him. She is afraid that she is like the rest of the women in her family who have never had a marriage last longer than three years. Her mom insisted on her using the same wedding dress the other women in the family used, and wouldn’t let Allie decide any of the other wedding details. Allie runs off so she won’t hurt Marcus more later.
Four months later, Allie’s best friend, Hannah, is engaged, and wants Allie in the wedding. That wouldn’t be a problem, but Hannah is Marcus’ sister. Hannah and Allie hadn’t been in touch much since the day Allie and Marcus were supposed to marry. Hannah still doesn’t understand why Allie left Marcus, but misses her best friend. At the engagement party, she sees Marcus for the first time. He still loves her, and doesn’t understand why she left. Eventually, they talk and work through Allie’s issues with commitment.
I really enjoyed this one. I felt sorry for Allie. Her family was really embarrassing, and wouldn’t even let her decide what kind of wedding she wanted. I also liked Marcus, and felt bad for him. He didn’t understand why she left him, and was wary about getting involved with Allie again.

I got this novella from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A January Bride
A January Bride - Deborah Raney

When Maddie Houser’s brother-in-law is transferred to Ohio, she moves to their house in Clayburn, Kansas, because they need someone to stay there while the house it being refurbished. She is a writer, and has a deadline in January. She is having trouble concentrating enough to write. She calls her eighty-four year old neighbor, Ginny Ross. Ginny has a friend, Arthur Tyler, who is a professor. She gets him to let Maddie stay at his house during the day to write while the house is being renovated.
Arthur is a widower, and Maddie assumes he is an elderly man because of his friendship with Ginny. However, he is only thirty-nine. The first day she is at his house, Maddie writes him a note to thank him. Soon, they are leaving notes for each other nearly every day.
I really enjoyed this novella. I liked that Maddie and Arthur got to know each other through letters before they even met. This was a cute story, and I am looking forward to the rest of the A Year of Weddings novellas. I got this novella from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Short Story
Days of Rakes and Roses - Anna Campbell

Lydia and Simon were in love years ago, but Simon left after her father cought them kissing.  Now, she is engaged to another man, when Simon returns.

Her brother wrote to Simon asking him to return, so Lydia wouldn't have to marry a man she didn't love.  Lydia isn't pleased to see Simon, but eventually realizes she still loves him.  This is a cute short story that I got from Netgalley in exchange for a review
