4.5 stars
This could have easily been a 5 star read for me. By 30% I was close to just giving it 5 stars because it's that intense. The only reasons why this did not get a full 5 from me is because the confusing POVs and the whole undercover crap was just thrown in at the end.
Each chapter is a different POV and you can't tell whose chapter it is until you get through a few paragraphs. Is it so hard to put the character's name at the top of the page? Seriously, when I buy my own copy of this I'm writing in the character's name at the beginning of each chapter so I'm not confused next time I read this.
THIS SPOILER CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS THAT WILL RUIN THE WHOLE BOOK SO DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE THE BOOK RUINED FOR YOU.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
When I found out that Zoe was an undercover cop shocked and confused the hell outa me. The reason why she was chosen for the case was so random that it really didn't have anything to do with the story. It seemed like the author just through that in there about the crimes Elizabeth's brothers did.
BUT HOLY FUCK THAT ENDING IS SO FUCKING TWISTED! I seriously did NOT see that coming.
I wouldn't have thought that Claudia faked her pregnancy. I did find it odd that she kept talking about her miscarries, but didn't really think anything of it.
Kudos to Hayes on writing a twisted thriller/mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end. And that last sentence?
