Reading progress update: I've read 19%.
Choc Churro Murder: A Donut Hole Cozy Mystery - Book 25 - Susan Gillard

Did you just… say that... Alice in Wonderland... was written by... C.S. LEWIS????

I don't know if I can continue this series. This is an atrocity.

Review: Maple Frosted Murder by Susan Gillard
Maple Frosted Murder: A Donut Hole Cozy Mystery - Book 2 - Susan Gillard

Title: Maple Frosted Murder
Author: Susan Gillard
Series: Donut Hole Mystery, 2
Format: ebook
Length: N/A
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: A professional and very public rivalry with the owner of the corporate cookie cutter donut shop owner, leaves Heather as the prime suspect in his murder, when his body is discovered.
Health inspectors, shady business practices and a tangled web of intrigue unfold as Heather dives headfirst into the case, determined to clear her name and uncover who is the cold storage killer.

Mini-review: This one was better than the last one, but it's still horribly edited (if at all). The culprit was pretty obvious and the relationship between Heather and Ryan feels rushed.

Fan Cast:
Heather Janke - Bryce Dallas Howard
Ryan Shepherd - Sam Witwer
Amy Givens - Anna Camp
Maricela - Cote de Pablo
Angelica - America Ferrera
Jung - Randall Park
Eva Schneider - Michael Learned
Sheila Drombrowski - Andi MacDowell

Review: Strawberries & Creme Murder by Susan Gillard
Strawberries & Crème Murder - Susan Gillard

Title: Strawberries & Crème Murder
Author: Susan Gillard
Series: Donut Hole Mystery, 1
Format: ebook
Length: 151 pages
Rating: 2.5 stars

Synopsis: Donuts, deceit and the potential murder of a former assistant find master donut backer Heather Janke at the center of a mystery in which she is a potential suspect and possibly the only one capable of discerning the truth.
Was her former assistant Christa murdered and if so, why?
Follow Heather as she searches for clues to get to the bottom of this sweet caper.

Favourite character: N/A
Least favourite character: Heather

Mini-review: The continuity! I now know why this series and it's spin-off have altogether 134 books. Because whoever writes this series doesn't edit. A grand opening was happening tomorrow, two pages later it's opening today (only five fictional minutes had passed). Or another one was a character talks to her in her office, leaves, then another character comes in and then she asks current person if the previous person has come to work today. Stuff like that.

It wasn't the greatest, but I'm still intrigued.

Sidetracked and Finished
Mint Chip Murder: A Donut Hole Cozy Mystery - Book 6 - Susan Gillard

I had started this story because I was interested in trying to get through the series (makes more sense to follow the series, over jumping around). I went to the library and found a few books on a series that I had already started and they had new books and then I kept seeing new books I wanted to read. So today, I was still hung over from the wind storm from the night before and the very early rise of the following morning and I just went into the books and finished this book.

Heather and Ryan are becoming closer and spending more time together. One day, she is running errands and sees a place near where she goes that has crime scene tape and her boyfriend is there investigating. She waves, but doesn't approach and later that night he shares what the public gets to know and nothing else. He tells her that he cannot have her messing in his case because it might harm the court case. She understands and doesn't mess in this case and the two become closer.

The story is good and very quick, once you get into it. I do recommend reading the series in order.
