Top 5 Wednesday | Favorite Rereads

Top 5 Wednesday was created by gingerreadslainey on youtube where she picks a topic for each week and you list the top 5. Check out the goodreads page if you are interested in joining!

This week topic is... your top 5 rereads! I love rereading but I just don't make enough time for it!! But that's something I started focusing on making more time for the past 2 years! This year I've reread 11 books (5 Harry Potter, Anna & Lola by Stephanie Perkins and 4 Nicholas Sparks books) and I made a shelf on goodreads to keep track of my rereads and so far I've reread 30 books. Mind you, 12 of them are Nicholas Sparks books and 7 for the Harry Potter series! I want to continue to make time to reread some favorites!!! I would love to reread at least 10 books a year! I think rereading is important for many reasons! To experience why you love a book again, to give a book a second chance, or to see how the book has changed for you and what it means to you depending on what point in life you are reading it! Anyway, here are my top 5 favorite rereads:

1. A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks

This is my all time favorite book that I'm making it a thing to reread every December! I reread it last year and it was the first book I read this December! So now I've read it 4 times and that number will just grow. This book means so much to me and I love rereading it! Each time has been different but it also has been a good comfort and nostalgic read as well!

2. Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

Last December I FINALLY started my reread of the series and I finished the series for the second time then end of May. It was amazing, I was always putting off the reread because the series is so big but I can't believe I waited that long! And I cannot wait to reread the series for a 3rd time and continue to reread it! :)

3. The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks

Yes, he's on the list again! He's my favorite author and I reread 4 of his books this year and besides A Walk to Remember - the Guardian was my favorite reread of the year! I love rereading his book - like I said 12/30 rereads are his books! I'm making my rounds to at least read all of his books twice and I have 6 books to go! And then I'll just keep rereading his books of course :) His books are the perfect reread for me to get my out of a slump, to enjoy his stories again - his books are liking coming home for me and yeah I could go on forever but if any knows me even a little you already know my love for this author!!

4. Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

I love this book - it's one of my favorite childhood books! It's super short and just a really good story!! I haven't reread it in awhile but that needs to change! Rereading books I've read as a child is something I love to do. Even though a part of me is so scared that I won't like the book as much now as I did as a child but so far that has not happened! I've loved my rereads of Holes, Bridge to Terabithia, the Woman in the Wall and this one!

5. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

I'm glad I made time to reread both Anna and Lola before Isla - the final book came out in August! I loved my reread of Anna but I didn't like it as much as the first time I read it. But I still really enjoyed it in a different way as well! But the first time I read Lola - I didn't like it as much as Anna and was a tad bit disappointed but I liked it much better with my reread!! It's fun to reread cute contemporaries like this and I need to reread more!!

So there's the list, I definitely have so many books I want to reread, it's kind of crazy!!

This week topic is...  top 5 favorite books over 500 pages!! This was a tad difficult since I've read some really good long books but I was able to narrow it down! I haven't done one of these in awhile (well minus the fact that I've been doing them on instagram...) but I thought I'd make a post! I decided to order them from lowest number of pages to the most! So here goes:

1. Cress by Marissa Meyer (552 pages)

I love this series to pieces!!! And this one happens to be my favorite of the series (CRESS & THORNE!!!) and I cannot wait for the last book, Winter!!

2. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (552 pages)

If you read this you know the beauty and heartbreak of this book!! If you haven't read it, you need to read it!!

3. Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier (554 pages)

One of my favorite fantasy series that more people need to read!! SO GOOD!

4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling (734 pages)

My two favorite bigger Harry Potter books are this one and Half Blood Prince and I just went with the longer one! Of course Harry Potter would be on this list!!

5. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell (1,448 pages)

One of my all time favorite classics!! Rhett and Scarlett are among my favorite couples!! Love this book so much!!

Top 5 Wednesday: Books That Have Made Me Cry [Nicholas Sparks Edition]

Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday was created by gingerreadslainey on youtube where she picks a topic for each week and you list the top 5. Check out the goodreads page if you are interested in joining!

This week's topic is,,, top 5 books that have made you cry! I am a sap and have cried reading sooo many books! Hell I cry during commercials!! It may be weird, but I love when a book gives me a good cry - because it means the book really impacted me and it's just real. So when I was looking through my books to come up with some that were memorable that really made me cry, I realized that I was basically picking the ones that I already have on my top ten list of books that have made me cry that I made almost a year ago (Although I'd update the list and add some books like Making Faces by Amy Harmon and Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson that I read this year that definitely made me cry along with some others) and when I was making the list of my top 5 I was having a hard time choosing which Nicholas Sparks book to add.... so I decided to make this my list of top 5 Nicholas Sparks books that have made me cry! I feel like anyone who knows me knows he's my favorite author and plenty of his books have made me cry for different reasons. Contrary to what people think, not all of his books are sad and will make you cry - but they all deal with deeper issues that are sad. These 5 are ones that practically ripped my heart out and made me full on cry! Here's my list:

5. The Rescue

3462

The Rescue is about a mother and son that get in an car accident during a storm and Denise realizes her son (who has learning disabilities) is missing. In comes Taylor a firefighter who goes on the search for to find her son....

- There were two specific parts that I remember that just broke my heart and I cried.

4. The Last Song

6400090

The Last Song is about a girl named Ronnie and her brother who have to stay with their father at his beach house over the summer. Ronnie's parents are divorced and she's having trouble dealing with it so she gives her dad a hard time and is angry and rebellious. But this summer will change her

This book is beautiful and will definitely make you cry.

3. Nights in Rodanthe

15926

Nights in Rodanthe is about a woman named Adrienne who's husband leaves her for someone else. Her friend asks her to look after her inn for a weekend and she agrees. There is only one guest the entire weekend who is a doctor who has come to work out something he is going through and seems to keep to himself. Then a storm comes in and they are cooped up together at the inn...

There were definitely a few parts in this book that made me cry and the ending especially ripped my heart out!

2. The Best of Me

10766509

The Best of Me is about a woman named Amanda and a man named Dawson who came from opposite sides of the tracks but fell in love in high school but eventually split up. Years later they both return to their hometown to attend a funeral of a mutual friend and see each other for the first time in years and they try to get to know one another again while dealing with their past.

OMG. This one just tears me apart. So sad and heartbreaking. But beautiful at the same time. UGH. Cannot wait to see the movie that comes out in October! YAY! Need to reread this one...

1. Message in a Bottle

3478

Message in a Bottle is about a woman named Theresa who finds this bottle that has a letter inside it while she's running on the beach. This letter is from a man named Garret who is writing a love letter to his late wife, Catherine. Theresa is so intrigued and moved by this letter that she goes and seeks the man who wrote it.

It's hard to say (especially with my top 3) which one made me the saddest. But this one - I can't deal. My heart was ripped out.

**********

So that is my top 5 of Nicholas Sparks books that have made me cry! You may be wondering why my favorite book, A Walk to Remember is not on this list - while it does make me cry - not as much as these 5. The way the book is written makes you really sad but it's also beautiful! I cannot wait for the next book he writes!

What are some books that have made you cry? Have you read a Nicholas Sparks book that have made you cry? Do you like books that make you cry or avoid them?
