Finding Jack
Never Say Die (Alex Rider) - Anthony Horowitz

Finding Nemo Alex Rider version.

With more actions.

I thought this is the last book. So happy that new one is coming soon.

Alex Rider lost Jack in the last adventure. Now he thought he got some vague hints that Jack might still be alive. And it is all a cruel trick on him to let him feel the pain of losing the only adult that care for him constantly.

Good that his Sabrina's father took him in.

But Alex Rider wouldn't let go of even a small chance that Jack is still alive and he could find her again.

Sometimes we read YA because it reminds us of how life look like when we are still young, and the world is both scary and exciting at the same time.

I wanted to read book that has less cynicism that reflect the cruel human made reality that we are living in now.

And YA has an additional advantage of usually not ended too badly for the main characters.

Anthony is a good writing for adding humors into the story. And the character building for Alex has done pretty well. Although the villains are usually too forthcoming with their evil plan, that reminds us of most of the animations on TV. iit is not really that distracting.

Action adventure teenage spy stuff is pretty addictive if it is done correctly.

Highly recommended this for a summer read.

Reading progress update: I've read 30 out of 190 pages.
The Solitary Summer - Elizabeth von Arnim

"What a blessing it is to love books.  Everybody must love something, and I know of no objects of love that give such substantial and unfailing returns as books and a garden."

No contest on the books -- and love of flowers ...

And Elizabeth has an honest-to-God favorites shelf!  Go figure!

"In the centre of my library there is a wooden pillar propping up the ceiling, and preventing it, so I am told, from tumbling about our ears; and round this pillar, from floor to ceiling, I have had shleves fixed, and on these shelves are all the books that I have read again and again, and hope to read many times more -- all the books, that is, that I love quite the best.  In the bookcases round the walls are many that I love,  but here in the centre of the room and easiest to get at, are those I love the best -- the very elect among my favourites."

Reading progress update: I've read 204 out of 384 pages.
Never Say Die (Alex Rider) - Anthony Horowitz

Alex Rider is kind of going on a wide goose chase.

There is very little clue or indication that Jack is still alive.

Yet he runaway from his new home and tried to find Jack.

Of course he is lucky enough to run into the key person that just stole some military equipment.

And of course he got away only to walk into another dangerous place again.

I like the teenager action of the book. Like he would sneak into a dangerous place, got hungry and take the risk to steal food from the kitchen. Or he would talk back at the adults who just kidnapped him. Like this type of show of characters.

Alex Rider is such a likable character. This is the last book of the series.

Jack become more than a housekeeper, she is a parent and seem to be the only adult to have Alex's best interest in mind.

The writer has killed off this character to make us cry. Well done as a plot twist. But really too cruel for the character Alex who through our active imagination not only exist in our mind, but has feelings too.

So in this one, Alex get a hint that Jack might not be dead after all, but was held captive. That's would be the only reason she hasn't come back to Alex.

Alex is now living with Sabrina and her parents. They broken up and the relationship changed from couple to brother and sister.

Weird.
