Review: The Advent Bride by Mary Connealy
The Advent Bride - Mary Connealy

Title: The Advent Bride
Author: Mary Connealy
Series: The 12 Brides of Christmas, 1
Format: ebook, bind-up
Length: 51 pages

Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: Melanie Douglas attempts to connect with a troubled student using an advent box with hidden rewards. When Henry O’Keeffe sees a remarkable change in his son, he has to meet the new teacher. Will more than one prayer be answered in the small Nebraska town?

Favourite character: Melanie
Least favourite character: Magda Rathbone

Mini-review: Oh my goodness, Mrs. Rathbone ruined this novella for me. It would've been so much better if she had either been removed or toned down by about ten, and stopped the accusations and demands. Other than that I enjoyed it. I liked the ending, but would've liked Simon's take more than "marry us we love you."

Review: The Yuletide Bride by Michelle Ule
The Yuletide Bride - Michelle Reid

Title: The Yuletide Bride
Author: Michelle Ule
Series: The 12 Bride of Christmas, 5
Format: ebook, bind-up
Length: N/A
Rating: 2 stars

Synopsis: Ewan Murray and Kate McDougall hold a mutual appreciation for music—and each other. But as she comes of age, Ewan realizes he must do something to prove his worth to her banker father. Will a refurbished heirloom and a sudden snowstorm be the key to earning permission to marry?

Favourite character: N/A
Least favourite character: Kate's "fiancée"

Mini-review: I wasn't a fan of this. I don't like books that have parents who don't care about what their kid's wishes are. Also, books where the author misuses words or a character who is supposed to be humble or kind and acts like a spoiled brat for no real reason.

Fan Cast:

Ewan Murray - Liam Aiken

Kate McDougall - Madelaine Petsch

Favourite character: Beetle and Lilly
Least favourite character: N/A

Mini-review: Cute book. I'm a sucker for books where the characters are snowed in. Especially if they fall in love. I loved Lilly and Beetle. Nate was good but because I'm currently binge-watching season 1 of NCIS: Los Angeles. I kept picturing Nate Getz.

Arabella "Ara" Tabue - Phoebe Tonkin

Nate Horne - Zachary Levi

Review: The Fruitcake Bride by Vickie McDonough
The Fruitcake Bride (The 12 Brides of Christmas) - Vickie McDonough

Title: The Fruitcake Bride
Author: Vickie McDonough
Series: The 12 Brides of Christmas, 12
Format: ebook, bind-up
Length: 48 pages
Rating: 1 star

Synopsis: Pastor Clayton Parsons waited a year to bring his fiancée, Karen Briggs, to his new church post. They plan a Christmas wedding, but in the meantime Karen helps the church ladies with various projects, including a bake sale. But revealing her fruitcake recipe could spell disaster for her future in Bakerstown, Missouri.

Favourite character: Patsy
Least favourite character: Karen & Prudy

Mini-review: Oh boy. This was a severe case of me and not the book. I'm not into bookss that's main plot devices are to bully an insecure protagonist, both because the bullies need to stick a sock in it and because the victim needs to stand up for herself. And Karen running out every chapter really grated on me. She should've told them where to go. But nicely because it's a historical Christian fiction.

Fan Cast:

Karen Briggs - Cassidy Gifford

Clayton Parsons - James Maslow
