The Age of Adaline Movie Review

"A young woman, born at the turn of the 20th century, is rendered ageless after an accident.  After many solitary years, she meets a man who complicates the eternal life she has settled into."-IMDB

Adaline Bowman, our leading lady played by Blake Lively gets into an accident and dies.  However, as a comet is passing by lightening strikes her car and it resuscitates her, causing her to never age since that moment.  Always on the run she never gets to settle down due to people acknowledging the fact that she never ages.  Thus she is never able to fall in love completely because she ends up having to leave or move away.  Now Adaline has met a man called Ellis Jones whom she's completely fallen for.  She tries to push him away but he has fallen in love with her also.  Adaline goes with Ellis to meet his family for the weekend when she is reunited with his father; whom she was in love with in her past.  When she runs off she gets in a car accident and dies again; only to be yet again resuscitated as the comet is passing by 50 years later and she comes back to life only to realize that she is now able to age.  She can now grow old with Ellis.

The characters in this movie had decent chemistry, although I never felt completely pulled in to their love story.  Although I enjoyed the characters I felt as if Ellis and Adaline had some what of an insta-love story or at least for Ellis that is. Adaline (Blake Lively) and William Jones (Harrison Ford) had the best chemistry.  One felt drawn into whatever conversations they were having.  The feeling of the long lost unrequited love was also there which could be deeply felt on William's end.  You could feel the loss in his tone of voice.  It slows down and becomes a bit deeper.  The history that they had together could be felt even though they hadn't seen each other in decades.

The movie starts off a bit slow.  It doesn't really begin to pick up until Adaline visits and William recognizes her.  From then on out the movie is great.  Filled with emotion and great scenes it does not disappoint.  However, until you get to that point, it seems slightly dull and slow.  If the scenes between Ellis and Adaline were more raw and intense the first half would have been much more enjoyable.

I would recommend this movie to those who like romance movies, such as Hallmark and so on; it is a cute watch but it isn't anything special.

On the seventh day of Christmas... His Winter Princess by Adaline Raine
On the seventh day of Christmas...
His Winter Princess by Adaline Raine

Audra Deveraux dresses up as a princess to entertain children and visit nursing homes during the cold wintry months. She never expected to bump into a man who requests her at a social gathering of his close friends, but the amount of money for three hours of her time is more than she usually makes in a season! Despite her initial reservations, Audra finds herself accepting the offer from the very handsome stranger.
Clay Lawson is a self-made millionaire with lofty tastes to make up for his loneliness. He inherited a small, struggling winery after the tragic death of his young wife and turned it into a thriving business. He is captivated by Audra's beauty and grace when he sees her serving residents at a local nursing home. He approaches her and offers her one-thousand dollars to serve his friends refreshments at their annual winter party.
He neglects to mention that he and his friends believe in an old-fashioned mindset when it comes to their relationships and it startles Audra right out of character.
Audra is both shocked and intrigued by the women at the party who are taken in hand and in male dominated households. It leaves her wondering if Clay believes in the same code. She accepts his explanation, but is hesitant to ask the question burning in her mind.
Clay is open and willing to answer all of her questions, even the ones she can't seem to ask, but can they embark on the path towards a relationship or will Audra give him the cold shoulder and be on her way?

Marked by the Alpha
Marked by the Alpha - Adaline Raine 2 1/2 of 5 stars

Dani is a Lone Wolf that always relied upon herself and avoided becoming part of a pack. Alpha, Mason Daniels, discovers that hunters are after the she-wolf and marks her for protection. Unfortunately, the mark is ignored and Dani is taken prisoner. Now Dani is forced into pack life.

The dialog in Marked by the Alpha seemed abrupt to me. This caused me not to feel connect to the characters. I would have liked some insight to the characters' thoughts and emotions. There were occasional quick references to why people did what they did, but I felt it wasn’t established enough.

This was a short book, 63 pages on my eReader. The concept was interesting. I think a little more development and a couple more pages could have added a lot to the book.

Marked by the Alpha
Marked by the Alpha - Adaline Raine Marked by the Alpha was a short novella that might've taken on too much. There just weren't enough pages - enough words - to fully evolve the story. I was left with questions about character motivation, especially as the societal norms played out in the pack.

Marked by the Alpha
Marked by the Alpha - Adaline Raine Dani is a lone wolf. She was pretty much abandoned by her parents and has built a life for herself without any other werewolves around.Mason is the leader of a pack. And has decided it is time to bring Dani in for her own safety.Normally I don't like to see our female protagonist forced into a relationship against her will but in this case I thought Mason should have stepped things up a bit. We knew, He knew, She knew they were going to end up together so just do it already. The biggest problem I had was the whole Human Hunter storyline. I didn't think they were established well enough for me to understand what their motivation and their game was.An extremely solid debut effort.
