Book 14: The Slow Fade
Star rating - ★★★☆☆
POV – Holden (FINALLY!!!!)
Would I read it again – No.
If I ever needed more proof of how stupid this group of kids are or of how much of a bitch Inez it, it came when she punched Holden. What the hell gives her the right to do that?
So, again, I'm disappointed. The story was Holden's and it was going great, until Arcadia would only share the secret while Inez was there. Like she knew no one would trust Holden enough to just take his word. And they go on about him keeping secrets, but the rest are just as bad.
I should have been rating this a 5 star, because it's Holden and he made me cry. But, you know what, I am so angry right now. So angry that an amazing story was ruined by the character of Inez, who is completely useless, does nothing to help and only makes things worse, and has turned Holden into some kind of villain in the eyes of everyone else in this group. Yet, you know what? He's the ONLY reason they're alive right now.
So, no. No 5 stars. No great rating. I'm pissed as all hell that, for some reason, this really crappy, racist, sexist character is getting to be the hero and the one everyone looks up to and loves unconditionally, while the real good guy, Holden, is emotionally stopped on – BEATEN! – and although it all happens in front of the entire group, literally only THREE people – Umta, Loki and Nevaeh – stand up for him. WHERE THE HELL IS EVERYONE ELSE? WHAT ARE THEY DOING? WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY THINKING?
