Sexy set
Sexy as F*ck: Contemporary Romance Duet - Avery Aster

This is a set of books making a duet of stories that focus on the same character.  It is not necessary to read all the books in order for these series.  I recommend doing so, since these are such fun & sexy reads.

In the first book we learn about Taddy Brill and why she is motivated to be on a plane in the first place.  You meet her friends, learn her plans, and basically get to know her character better.

In the second book, we meet Warner Truman.  A rich and seemingly spoiled mogul who thinks Taddy should be his as well.  Full of humor, drama and a lot of hot and intense moments, there is something for everyone.

I thought there were a lot of surprises for the reader.  The characters are stunning bunch of new adults who are glad to have one another.  Good choice of books to companion one another.  I give this set a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Love, Lex - Avery Aster

3 Stars

This summer, I’d planned to celebrate my eighteenth birthday in Europe with my fellow Manhattanites—Taddy Brill, Blake Morgan, and Vive Farnworth—until I caught my boyfriend screwing my mother. According to the police report, this vomit-inducing incident happened around the same time I’d supposedly blown-up my mother’s penthouse. Like I’m walking around Soho with a stick of dynamite in my Louis Vuitton purse—not! Now, my besties and I are in jail.

Officer Ford Gotti, the Harley-wheelin’ biker cop who arrested us, keeps sticking his perfectly-sculpted nose into my case. His inked body is jacked like a superhero, and he says I can trust him. He wants me to fess up. I won’t. Not again. Why should I? My friends and I had a previous stint in juvie that nearly destroyed us. I gotta protect them and keep my mouth shut. Right? —Lex Easton, women’s studies major, motorcycle enthusiast, and virgin.

*I received a free ARC of Love, Lex from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review*

Short, hot, pretty unbelievable but lots of fun, Love, Lex is a prequel to the Manhattanites series by Avery Aster. It tells the story of Lex, her crazy mom, her distant and absent father, her best friends and her awful boyfriend. For Lex, hiding from the paparazzi is second nature, and it has been since she was a little girl. However, they always seem to be able to find her at the worst possible moments.

Love, Lex goes from fun, to despair, to prison and back to fun and hotness in a very fast-paced and fun read. You do need to be able to suspend disbelief in a big way, though, but if you are the ride will be good, and you will have no regrets in the end. The situations Lex finds herself in are both hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time. And the fact that she is in the public eye, but mostly because of her parents really make her very insecure, and she is very endearing.

The writing in Love, Lex is OK, there are some editing issues, but they may very well have been changed in the final version as I read an ARC. The point of view is Lex’ in first person, and  in past tense, and there are also conversations between her and other characters throughout.

Even in the short story that is Love, Lex, I got to know Lex pretty well, and I want to get to know her better, so I’ll be picking up the Manhattanites very soon. If you enjoy outrageously funny, improbable but still hot and good stories, you should pick up Love, Lex as well. The interactions between Lex and her friends, as well as her erotic daydreams about the hot, tattooed motorcycle cop are hilarious, and definitely worth reading about.

I felt nothing. No pain. Not the loss of him. Not the stab in my soul from Mom. Why? i guess because after all of this was said and done, I still had me! Tomorrow I’d be eighteen. Life was so much better than this.

Why did I feel as if I’d just been placed in some industrial-strength-professional microwave, set on high, ready to defrost and then backe a turkey, all in a mere sixty seconds? If I was ever going to pass out, I hoped it’d be right now. Otherwise I’ll just drop dead of mortification.

Love, Lex by Avery Aster
Love, Lex: (The Undergrad Years #1) New Adult Contemporary Romance - Avery Aster

Okay, so the main reason I actually picked up this book was because of a review opportunity for the second book in this little mini-series, Yours Truly, Taddy. This first book had been mentioned and so, being the good little reviewer that I am, I decided to read this one before picking up the second. I thought it might give me an insight into what I might be expecting for the second book.

So this series focuses on the younger selves of Taddy, Lex, Blake, and Vive and their antics. And more specifically, this first book focuses mainly on Lex and her upcoming eighteenth birthday. A big day for her, because she has planned to lose Lady V with her, well, I guess you could call him her boyfriend. The way he treats her, however, makes him EX-boyfriend material. And he definitely shows his colors when Lex finds him doing the dirty deed with someone she has known all her life.

This becomes the last straw for her, and it also starts a chain of events that ends up getting Lex and her friends Taddy and Vive arrested for arson and a possible attempted murder charge.

Lex will have to prove her innocence, or at least find a way for the charges to drop, but will her friends abandon her to save themselves?

I absolutely loved this novel. Lex was a card. When she was fantasizing about the cop who initially pulls her over in the first place, I could just imagine him talking and her drooling. The witty dialogue really took the cake, and I am so excited to read the second book in this series.

Love, Lex by Avery Aster
Love, Lex: (The Undergrad Years #1) New Adult Contemporary Romance - Avery Aster

The Cover: 8/10—The point of a cover is to catch my attention and it does that!
Writing: 8.5/10 —I could find no faults in the writing other then how simple it was.
Heroine: 4.5/10— Alexandra ‘Lex’ Easton GETs ON MY NERVES
Romance: 6/10
Sexiness: 5/10
Over All Story 6/10— I will explain

Alexandra ‘Lex’ Easton, is the child of two mega star musicians and if you have ever watched Nashville, having famous parents just sucks. Lex’s mother is basically a pill-popping alcoholic who only really cares about her own career and screwing around. Lex’s father is pretty much out of the picture. So our heroine is left to make her own family of misfits in the forms of her friends Viv, Blake, and Taddy. They all did time in Juvie.

The beginning of this book kind of had a Gossip Girl vibe going on, where all the teens just seemed to burn through cash, get drunk and sleep around…Well everyone but Lex, of course. She is a virgin and she’s DYING to swipe her card with her boyfriend Kelly, while she is in Paris for her eighteenth birthday…nothing says rich like flying out to a club in the City of Lights.

This seems simple right?

You see authors do this thing where they want to make their book edgy and blow readers minds by adding random plot twist and drama bombs all over the bloody place. Don’t get me wrong I like fictional drama as much as the next person. However there is an art to it. You have to have the right balance or it starts feeling like a telenovela or soup opera.

Well Lex’s mother is actually sleeping with Kelly.

But it’s okay I guess since Kelly is an ASSHOLE who would not sleep with Lex because she was to “fat” for him…Ummm why in the hell are they together then? He puts her down and makes Lex feel like shit but she just takes it.

So what is a girl to do when she finds out her mother is screwing with her boyfriend?

That’s right Lex get’s so pissed she gets all the pictures of her and Kelly goes into the bathroom and lights them on fire in the tub….which leads to the house burning down when she runs away from home.

BUT WAIT there is more because we still need a super sexy guy for Lex to fall in love with!

Enter in the cop, Officer Ford Gotti, who has to come arrest her for arson and attempted murder! Ford is tattooed, young, beautiful…blah blah blah and Lex wants him BAD….

(Inner me one: I thought she was heartbroken five second ago?)
(Inner me two: the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else.)

I won’t even bother explaining what happens next because we a know. Lex and Ford dance around each other. Ford wants her to trust him ten seconds into meeting him…I mean why not he is hot. Lex is always thinking about sex and how to save her but going to jail….

By the end I wanted to burn the book because this was not what I expected to read.

★ Review ☆ Yours Truly, Taddy, The Undergrad Years by Avery Aster
Welcome to Eden!
Taddy has just learned that after emancipating herself from her parents, they drained her trust, leaving her completely broke with no way of paying for her college tuition.
Thankfully, Taddy has the love and support of her BFF's mother, Birdie who lands her a modeling gig where the foursome board a plane with three of Europes hottest men, destination, Martinique.
The foursome haven't had much luck, and that doesn't change here when their plane crashes, flinging Taddy into the ocean without her friends. But she wasn't alone.
Leon, one of the hunky men from the flight sat with her on a piece of the plane.
Nothing could have prepared Taddy for the events that come after this.
Fearing she'd never make it out of the ocean alive, Taddy throws her trust, hope, and the "Lady V"  to Leon, in hopes they will reach Eden and their friends again.
As always, Avery steams up the pages with her hot sex scenes, fresh in your face characters and endless snort-inducing giggles.
