The Given & The Taken (Tooth & Claw #1) by L.A. Witt
The Given & The Taken - L.A. Witt

I don't get Levi/Darius, sorry. There was nothing between them bar pure hate for the longest time, and all of the sudden there is an orgy and a half, butterfly kisses and ribbons and kittens and even the L word. Nope. Not working for me.

I also don't get why Levi had to lie about Ian not showing up for the reunion, along with the stupid decision on Ian's behalf not to pick up a phone call to clear up the situation. You can listen, you don't have to meet face to face, that's the benefit of a phone call, right? So, one silly thing after another after yet another... That's the way of the book. Which leaves me with a shrug and 1.75 stars.

Писательское мастерство автора, да в мирных бы целях.....

Locked In Silence (Pelican Bay #1) by Sloane Kennedy
Locked in Silence - Sloane Kennedy

I really loved this book up until 60%, where I started to feel like the author is trying to inflict as much pain and suffering on the MCs as possible without introducing actual physical torture. Oh, wait, there was that bear! :( Anyway, I would have done just fine with all of that if it wasn't for the finale. Everything, and I mean - e-veh-ry-thing - bent and twisted and in the end righted itself, short of resurrecting dead people.

And so, while I enjoyed most of the book immensely and even got some perverted satisfaction out of the too-good-to-be-true ending, I can't give it more than 3.5 stars. Which way to go tho, which way to go?

Ahhh, hell, I did read it well into the night, so - 4 stars in the end.

Fighting Instinct (L'Ange #2) by Mary Calmes
Fighting Instinct - Mary Calmes

A  very quick read. Cut out headache-inducing bickering and meaningless dialog and the story shrinks from 224 pages to about 124. Cut out rivers of blood and gun-waving, and you get it down to about 70 in no time. Then tune out the descriptions of posh surroundings and you are looking at mere 60. Pull out and burn the bush that the author beats around instead of moving the story forward and you can get maybe 40 pages of the actualstory
I am not going to review that story, just want to mention that yet another creature went through pain and suffering and was almost destroyed emotionally and physically so we could read about Arman and his guns.

Blessing and Light (The Order) by Kasia Bacon
Blessing and Light: An Order Universe Holiday Short - Kasia Bacon

Out of all three, this is by far my favorite. Hope there is more of this couple in the future.

The Poison Within (Inspector Skaer #1) by Kasia Bacon
The Poison Within: An Order Universe Short Story (Inspector Skaer Book 1) - Kasia Bacon

Well, what do you know, now I am an addict :)

I love everything in this story! Love that the author drew the ideas from RL, events we all can relate to and reflect upon. Love the female characters, who are - a breath of fresh air - wholesome, love the social differences, love a vulnerable character or two and how protective their lovers are. Love the no-nonsense of KB's writing, straight to the point. Just ...perfect, if short. Moar please! =)
