Dialogues of Plato: The Apology of Socrates/Crito/Phaedo/Protagoras - Plato,Benjamin Jowett

(Original Review, 2015-08-20)

I must first admit that I know nothing about philosophy and therefore attempting a review of a book of this magnitude makes me approach it with a certain degree of trepidation. But reviews are free so why not take the plunge and as it interests me how we live within this world and make sense of it and how language both facilitate and impedes that process, I might have something to contribute if only my ignorance.

If you're into stuff like this, you can read the full review.

Gorgeously appropriate
Daredevil (2015-) #611 - Charles Soule,Phil Noto

I continue to love this series like you wouldn't believe.

Beautiful art, heartbreaking storyline that keeps me coming back for more.

No emotional energy to write more.

Another beautiful issue!
Daredevil (2015-) #610 - Charles Soule,Phil Noto

Soule and Noto nail it, while tightening the noose around Murdock.   Brilliant stuff, heartbreaking story arc as Elektra makes an appearance.

Noto's Elektra is stunning.

Daredevil (2015-) #609 - Charles Soule,Phil Noto

I'd say this is the most lush and gorgeous art that Noto has done, but that's unfair to Noto: his art tends to be pretty uniformly gorgeous.   Breathtaking all the time.   There were certain images here, though, that vied for all time favorite: a discolored image of a library in muted, eerie greens, Daredevil's mask haloed in  red that made me stop on that particular panel.

And of course, it all works in combination with Soule's art, running along at a, well, breathtaking pace as Matt barrels along with a newfound sense of morality - or newfound again, as I believe he has this crises every once in a while - and still is as reckless as ever regardless.   He has to do what he can with the time he has left, after all.

The fact that this is called the Death of Daredevil and the next ongoing DD series does not seem to be about Matt Murdock?   It makes this a little more: a little more tense, a little more aware that Daredevil is being not only reckless, but stupidly reckless. ÂI should feel disdain for him, and me and my sister are camped out in her room, hiding from the fighting - yay Thanksgiving :/ - making fun of how reckless Murdock is.   And yet all I am is worried about him: seems as if he’s not going to make it, Marvel isn’t hiding it, and I want him to survive.

Bless Marvel, they’ll realize he’s a mainstay and bring him back eventually, but I’m not looking forward to my Inhuman-less, Matt Murdock-less years…
