Good Story and Characters
Hunger Untamed (Vampire Hunger) - Dee Carney

Lucy was a blood slave who had been freed. Lucy and her sister were raised as a courtesan as they were taken at a young age. Lucy is dying but wants revenge for her sister's death before she died. Victor usually doesn’t work with humans but he is very attracted to Lucy. Lucy must trust Victor who is a mercenary vampire to help her get that revenge. Victor has been accused of killing werewolves supposedly by Sage who caused Lucy’s sister’s death. Victor teaches Lucy how to kill her enemy.

I like this story . I like the fact Victor ends up with letting his walls down some. I really like the fact that Lucy sees past Victor’s facial disfigurement. I was rooting for these two. I reallt liked the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.

A Vampire's Honor (Vampire's Promise #3) by Carla Susan Smith
A Vampire's Hunger - Carla Susan Smith

Rowan Harper thought being with a vampire would keep her out of harm's way. But true evil lurks in the darkness, and not even her lover, Gabriel, knows all of its tricks.

Rowan may be his Promise, the one woman who can save Gabriel's soul, but the two of them have a long and complicated history that Rowan is only now discovering--complete with old enemies who will stop at nothing to make them suffer.

When Rowan is abducted and forced to witness unspeakable violence, secrets of the past begin to unfold. Secrets that show Gabriel's best friend Aleksei in a new light.

Will the truth destroy all three of them or bind them more tightly together, and if evil prevails, will it be Rowans's soul that ultimately needs saving?

I totally would have voted this book five stars but there were two major issues I had through reading this book. One, I didn't do my homework so I didn't realize when I got the book that it was part of a series. Two, the author didn't do much to catch new readers up to the current plot which is evident picks up directly where the previous book leaves off so I spent a lot of time being confused on details, history and back story.

That being said I grew to really like the cast in this series, Smith's characters are colorful and full of life and I really enjoyed their personalities. I especially loved Rowan's wit. The interactions between Smith's cast were fantastic.

I loved that Smith managed to keep the tension and adventure going all the way through the story from beginning to end. It always makes for a fabulous and entertaining read.

I really want to pick up the previous books in the series despite being lost on the story / history in the other books with how well Smith wrote this book. The author's writing is fantastic.

I really enjoyed Vampire's Honor. If you guys haven't read the Promise series I highly suggest it.

Hunger Aroused by Dee Carney
Hunger Aroused (Vampire Hunger #1) - Dee Carney

GR Cleanup Project Read in 2010

Jasmine’s a nurse who is feeling crappy and is sent home from work early. She’s a trooper though and decides to walk, as she normally does, but on this fateful night she happens to walk past Corin who recognizes the “scent” of change. He is a vampire who holds the title of “Executioner” and it’s his job to destroy all unauthorized vampire fledglings. And this one is definitely unauthorized. Her smell intoxicates him and he follows her home.

Jasmine’s a bit taken aback to find a stunningly gorgeous male in her home but she goes with the flow (hey, I can’t say as I blame her). Corin wastes no time explaining what is happening to her body and that he’s there to destroy her in three days’ time. As Jasmine is overcome with the “heat” of change (think Anita Blake’s ardeur) she is told by Corin that the only way to soothe her need is spicy food, chocolate or sex. There aren’t any chick flicks and boxes of Godiva’s lying around so guess what they end up doing instead? After petting her throbbing need into submission for the moment, Corin calls in her existence to the “Council” thus sealing her fate. He must kill her in three days or they will do it for him. He instantly regrets it because, damn, she smells like cinnamon and he finds himself falling in lusty-love. Yummy.

It all starts out fun and sexy and I was looking forward to learning more about both Corin and Jasmine but soon after the setup the story turns into a humorless, running from danger, angst-fest and I was disappointed. Corin is dripping with drama, the poor vampire-man. His past is seriously dark and tortured, I’ll give him that. He’s been raped and tortured and forced to serve a sadistic master at some point in his long existence. It’s not pretty stuff and we only get to see glimpses of it (darn!), but you get the gist that it was a very bad time for him. It’s turned him into a deadly serious vampire. I can take angst, I will even go so far as to admit I’m a sucker for angsty romance, but this one just didn’t draw me in. I never once got that heart-sick feeling that tells me I’m reading an unforgettable romance. Sadness. I even ended up skimming a little and I don’t usually do such things.

As for the storyline, there were far too many things that were not explained in enough detail for me. But the two that stand out are Jasmine’s vampirism (she was poked with an infected needle) and the little fact that Corin is already bonded to his male maker. There was much fuss made about Jasmine being “a new breed of vampire” but it just didn’t make a lot of sense to me. Also the whole sharing blood and bonding thing left me wondering about a lot of things. What if The Big Bad Master Vamp (sorry, his name has escaped me) got a sudden craving for Corin’s fine bum and showed up demanding kinky m/m sex? Would Corin still be forced to oblige? And would Jasmine enjoy watching? (probably not, she’s not me). Seriously, I fear for Jasmine’s HEA.

I liked Jasmine. She was a nice character and she was a good match for Corin. She stood up to him and even tried to save his sorry ass but I would have enjoyed this story so much more if the prose weren’t so overblown and we got a little bit of “getting to know you” time between the two characters. In the end, it all seemed too rushed, much like many of Jasmine’s orgasms.

Hunger Untamed by Dee Carney
Hunger Untamed (Vampire Hunger) - Dee Carney

Scheduled Release Date: March 7, 2016

The beginning of this book was grest. The middle was a little flat. Then it got good again.

The plot, isn't anything new. You have a sick, dying woman who is the cream of the crop to vampires being a blood slave. Too make her blood even more delectable, she has been infused with "spice," a vampire drug that is supposed to have no effect on humans. She is out to avenge the death of her twin sister. She is gorgious, fiesty, and out to get revenge for the death of her twin sister. She seeks out a vampire assassin with a reputation for being the best of the best.

,

The Vampire lead character is used to a life of booze and paid killing. Vampires are jnown for their perfect appearences, but not him. Half of his face is paralized causing it to sag. He refuses to work with humans, until a pretty blood slave walks into his life. He is attracted to her and slowly lowers the barriers he has had in place for years when this human begins to look past his appearance. All is well until her blood makes him have episodes of uncontrollable blood lust. These episodes have a "unique" trigger and makes things difficult. On top of all that he has to constantly watch his back due to a mmisunderstanding with a lycan pack hell bent on finding and eliminating the person/people responsible for slaughtering young members of their species.

Sound familiar? It does to me.

There were a few things that bugged me about this book. I loved the characters, but sometimes it felt like they made choices or their actions didn't quite seem to be how their character would react. I also wish that there was more action, not sex action, but fighting scenes and the like.

The sex scenes are HOT! It's a panty soaker for sure!

I did REALLY like that one of the main characters were just plain gorgious. It made the story all tht more enjoyable. The way the two characters interacted was nice too. They are really y nice pairing.

I will be sure to check out more by this author in the future.

I recieved a prerelease copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
