I don't know what it was about this that would not let me stay interested in this.  It seems to have everything you would want in a Mystery/Thriller, including several 5-star reviews, and yet, I just couldn't seem to care enough about it.  It just seemed to have the depressing feel to it and I found myself not wanting to read it.  So…it took me a while to finish it…

But really…

The Wife Between Us is a haunting story with a cleverly crafted plot and twists you won't see coming.  Overall, you probably shouldn't let my feelings on it sway you into not reading it because plenty of readers loved it.

Will I read more from this Author?  I don't know, maybe not…maybe yes.

I went into this knowing it would have too much explicit sex for my liking…and so I wasn't pissed off about that.  I also fast-forwarded through them some, and that helped, too.  I do have to give the narrator's props for reading these sex scenes out loud, because wow, they were raw.  Also some props for the Author, for always keeping it real with the way she writes her sex scenes.  (I suppose I can let it slide the couple times she referred to a vagina as a sex…serious pet-peeve of mine.)

While I had some issues with the MC (Blair is one f'-ed up chic) and the believability of the story...I think, overall, I liked how different this story is…it wasn't cliched like a lot of New Adult/Contemporary Romance stories out these days.  The fate of the love triangle will leave you wondering just which direction it's going in, right up until the very end.

Will I read more from this Author?⇜ Maybe…

The Unreal Boyfriend (Captured by Love Book 9)
The Unreal Boyfriend (Captured by Love Book 9) - Miranda P. Charles Shocking reveals, never ending secrets and hidden dangers are a constant with this group of friends. It's nice to know that no matter the scenario, someone always has your back. The Captured by Love series is an exciting mesh of red herrings and titillating lust. A maze of danger waiting to be solved drives friendships and awakens hearts. The Unreal Boyfriend has Derek and Bernadette in the hot seat this time around. Derek is searching for answers. Bernadette is hoping for love. In this game of cat and mouse, trust is a luxury that neither have. Not only are hearts at risk, but lives may be at stake. The suspense is killer, the romance is electric and the drama is edge of the seat intense.

The Love Letters of Abelard and Lily
The Love Letters of Abelard and Lily - Laura Creedle

Lily Michaels-Ryan is a highschooler with ADHD. When breaking something lands her in detention with Abelard, a beautiful and brilliant guy who has Asperger's, she can't help but feel intrigued. He seems thirty seconds behind in a conversation while she's thirty seconds ahead. When a paper gets posted online - one that never should have been posted in the first place - Lily and Abelard discover that they both love old novels, especially The Letters of Abelard of Heloise. The two fall for each other hard but their relationship isn't going to be an easy one.

Those black lines through the hearts got my attention. I was hooked from the very first page. The writing is so good - the whole book flowed smoothly, the characters were three-dimensional and they were interesting. We get a glimpse of what it's like for Lily being a teenager with ADHD. School is hard for her and nobody understands her. She feels like she's dragging her mother down. She has to make some tough choices. I like how the author showed how naive she was and also how she grew and took charge of her life. Lily and Abelard were so cute together and you can't help but root for them. This is one of those stories that will stick with you long after you've read it.

I won a copy of this book through Goodreads First Reads. Thank you to HMH Books for Young Readers for an ARC.

A Wolf's Love: A Paranormal Romance Short Read (Flame #5.5) by Caris Roane
A Wolf's Love - Caris Roane
A Wolf's Love is a short story addition to the Flame series. Cole and Lauren were together, until Lauren did something that Cole couldn't accept, and he called it off. However, when a teenager is kidnapped, Cole is the one that Lauren turns to, even though he refuses to help (at first). What follows is the two of them putting another's needs before their own, and working together to save her.

As with all Caris Roane's books, this is very well-written. It may only be a short story, but a full story is here. Nothing has been skimped on, instead you can settle in for a very good read. Personally, I would recommend that you start at book one, just to get the full enjoyment of the world of the Flame, but it isn't fully necessary. You 'could' read them in any order and as a standalone, but I do feel that you would miss something out of this well-developed world. With no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt my reading flow, I can highly recommend this short story.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *
