Demon Street Blues (Wicked Good Witches Book 1)
Demon Street Blues (Wicked Good Witches Book 1) - Starla Silver Crystal's 4 Star Review
This book was an easy read. The characters were great. I knew it was the first in the series, but it ends abruptly, which is the reason for the 4 star review.

The Howard Family has been the protectors of Demon Isle for generations. The Isle is home to a great source of power and has been the home of creatures of all kinds for years. Now the Isle is protected by three siblings and their vampire mentor. Each of the siblings is a witch with a specific power. The eldest, Charlie, is a werewolf on top of making some of the best potions to be made. The middle child, Michael, is an empath and death reader who wants nothing more than to escape the island and to try to live a normal life. The youngest, and only girl, is Melinda, who has the gift of prophetic dreams of death. She's pretty much sealed herself off from society after her first prophetic dream. She didn't know it was her power manifesting and by not acting on it led to the death of two people. She has blamed herself ever since, even though she was only a teen.

Now things are stirring in town. The sheriff contacts them about a skeleton that's been found. Once Michael has read the bones, it sends them from one side of the Isle to another. Trying to find out the cause of the man's death and also having to deal with a spirit possessed dear friend. The book is fast paced, the storyline flows and the characters are intriguing. I am off to purchase the next one now.

Wicked Good Witches Three Book Box Set (Demon Street Blues, Alpha Knows Best, Bye Bye Bloodsucker) - Starla Silver

I got the three book set because I liked the covers, it was cheap or free, did not sound impossible, and I didn't read the reviews. Should have read the reviews, the one and two star reviews.

At 22% and just hanging in to see what the plot really is or if the author just threw a bunch of stuff at the page and hoped no one would notice. I can't believe how many readers couldn't find anything wrong with this.

There is plenty wrong.

Demon Street Blues (Wicked Good Witches Book 1)
Demon Street Blues (Wicked Good Witches Book 1) - Starla Silver Giving this book a loose 2.5 because its just an introduction of the characters and the book series. There is some action (very brief) and the story ends abruptly. Interesting enough that I will to the next installment.

Overwhelmed by You by Nashoda Rose
Overwhelmed by You - Nashoda Rose

Overwhelmed by You by Nashoda Rose

This is the second book I have read from Nashoda Rose and I loved it as much as I loved Torn from You. I cannot get enough of the Tear Asunder series and the characters. The series is not for the faint of heart, it has dark and serious storylines. However, this one did not begin with darkness and brutality; it built slowly and was exposed close to the ending of the story.

The story began with Kat and Ream becoming friends and moving that relationship to lovers. It was total bliss and rainbows until Ream discovered Kat’s secret and pretty much lost his cool and made a dick move. Ream tries to make amends before he leaves on tour but he really tore the budding relationship to pieces. Kat is done.

Ream is the lead guitarist for the rock band Tear Asunder and has returned from an eight month tour. He has not given up on Kat and returns with one thing in mind. To get Kat back!!

The wooing of Kat by Ream is sweet and it is intense. He is determined to repair the broken relationship. One of my favorite lines by Ream is:   Ream told me he didn’t need a second chance because he was still working on his first.

Overwhelmed is a perfect title for the characters in the book. Ream is overwhelmed at the beginning of the relationship due to his own issues that come up with Kat’s secret. He has a history of darkness and brutality that he keeps hidden from everyone.  Kat is overwhelmed by the intensity and relentlessness of Ream to continue the relationship. I absolutely adored Ream. He worked hard to repair the damage and pain that he caused in the relationship.

Just when things seem to be coming together for the two love birds….. Nashoda lowers the boom and gives the reader a dark twist to the story.  Ream is forced to deal with his past. A past he thought he had put to rest.

I recommend this book to anyone that likes their contemporary romance with dark twists. It will not disappoint.  I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

ARC provided thru Netgalley,  author Nashoda Rose - Thank you
